The Jeopardy Award nominees

TV Squad AwardsLast week, you had a chance to nominate shows for The Jeopardy Award. This award rewards the primetime game show requiring the most skill. Because of the fact that we are only looking for shows that air in primetime, a lot of game shows requiring skills are out of the running. So is the case for Cash Cab, which received a lot of nominations, Crosswords and Jeopardy.

After the jump you will find the nominees, listed in alphabetical order, for The Jeopardy Award, along with a poll for the Reader's Choice Award. Both winners will be announced next week.

American Gladiators (NBC): This is definitely one of the game shows that requires the most physical skills. Contestants not only have to face fierce gladiators such as Wolf in a series of events but they also must go through the challenging and painful Eliminator!

Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader (FOX): Some may argue that this show doesn't require much skills and brains since contestants are answering questions fifth graders can answer. However, since contestants have left fifth grade (and school) years ago, trying to answer questions such as "Approximately how many years does it take Halley's Comet to make one orbit around the sun?" can be quite challenging. Do you know the answer? If you said 76, you are right! If not, you may want to vote for 5th Grader in the Reader's Choice poll below!

Don't Forget the Lyrics (FOX): It may be a show that only requires contestants to remember lyrics and try to sing them but the vast library of songs that can be part of the game make it a really difficult game to play.

Duel (ABC): Even if contestants get four possible answers to pick from and can select all four answers if they have enough chips to bet, the questions on Duel are not that easy to answer ... especially if you want to win the game! Questions range from geography to history and not forgetting sports and pop culture! To win the game, contestants need a little bit of luck, some strategy, and a lot of useless facts stored in their brain!

The Price Is Right - Million Dollar Spectacular (CBS): Besides the fact that prices are bigger and that contestants can win $1,000,000, the primetime edition of The Price Is Right is exactly like the original. Contestants must guess prices and play games to win money. It may not be the most brain racking game out there but to win big, you must be an avid shopper or be extremely lucky! Depending on the game you play, you may need to run around the stage or play mini golf or even hold yourself while playing Plinko!

Next week, the TV Squad team will announce the winner of The Jeopardy Award as well as which show you picked for the Reader's Choice Award (vote below). In the meantime, some categories are still gathering nominations so don't be afraid to give us your two cents by visiting the "call for considerations" posts.
