Rejoice! The Daily Show is finally back, after an extra long break. I've been absolutely dying to hear the show's take on Hillary Clinton's Robert F. Kennedy remark. I know Keith Olbermann would have none of it and was so furious during his Special Comment on the issue that he bust a lightbulb. The show started off lightly though, with a couple of jokes directed at the pre-show Q&A audience members. Once Jon Stewart urges you to marry your girlfriend on national television, it's probably about time to seal the deal.
Moving on, to some not-really-news: President Bush overuses "awesome." I dare say he turns to that word more than I, and I awesome use awesome all the awesome time. Awesome.
"War on the Clintons: The Great Delegate, Superdelegate and Popular Vote Robbery": Ah! Clinton news! Lady Clinton and her man with a "Sheen-esque libido" continue with their conspiracy theories, coming in from left and right. Senior Political Correspondent John Oliver, wearing a nice tropical shirt/tie combination, reported from Puerto Rico, noting that Clinton will not stop campaigning until all of America has been heard. That includes South America. I was surprised that the RFK remark was only mentioned in sort of, kind of passing. I mean, the media has been going absolutely nuts over this and I thought the news networks' reactions alone were worth a segment. Maybe they'll cover it later in the week?
"The Spiels on the Bus": Rob Riggle filed a field report about his adventures following the Obama campaign through Indiana. This report was all right, but I think Riggle is finally on the right track. He's definitely at his best when he's playing an overaggressive douchebag, spinning ridiculously long monologues. Once again, I must plug the Blackballed: The Bobby Dukes Story DVD, just because of Riggle's insane improvised monologue in the DVD extras.
The night's guest was Matt Taibbi, author of The Great Derangement: A Terrifying True Story of War, Politics, and Religion at the Twilight of the American Empire. Taibbi had the benefit of promoting a book with some pretty funny stories, so the interview went pretty well. Despite the mediocre reviews online, I've already put the book on my to-read list. I mean, handwriting analysis demons? Come on. Any wacky tales from the belly of the John Hagee beast are cool with me. They're hilarious because they're horrifying and true!
Moment of Zen: President Bush is so wicked cool, dudes! Cowabunga!

I usually skip TDS interviews but I'm glad I watched it last night. The guest was really funny and Jon had a lot of fun.

Colbert's sign-off last night was appropriate to the Girl Hitler comments yesterday:
"Good night and good nazis"
