Every year at this time there are a few shows that take the cancellation bullet, much to the dismay of fans. There are petitions, mass mailings, and declarations of never watching that network again. On the other hand ... every year there are also those shows that meet the TV reaper that really had it coming. We've had enough of their bad TV and we're not going to take it anymore.
The good riddance award is for those shows. Not only will you not miss them, you'll gladly cheer as the funeral procession passes you by. There is no shortage of contenders as we rap up the '07/'08 season. The first to ping my radar included Next Great American Band. Good grief, so much was wrong about that show. And while we're looking at that ill-fated Fox Friday, let's throw Nashville on the pile as well. CBS has a couple contenders in Secret Talents of the Stars and Viva Laughlin. How do you screw up getting frickin' Wolverine on your network? Of course, we'd be remiss if we didn't offer a tip of the cap to ABC and the Cavemen as well. Those are just a few from my perspective. Add your contenders in the comments and we'll boil it all down to a really great list, of really bad TV.

Cavemen, so that idiots at those big networks don't think they can throw just ANYTHING out there.
Cashmere Mafia. Because it was boring. Pretty faces couldn't even save it.

I was one of the fans who loved the first season of Jericho, but the second was really awful.

The Return of Jezebal James. Great pedigree, horrible, horrible, horriby unfunny and generic sitcom.

This is like shooting fish in a barrel. Everyone's a winner. I can't decide on "Carpoolers," "Cashmere Mafia," "Women's Murder Club," "Viva Laughlin," and the list goes on.
I'm going to go with "Viva Laughlin" which failed just on its pilot episode.

I have to go with Oprah's Big Give. She had to go now before she had shows on every night of the week.

Agreed about Secret Talents. When it comes to "secret talents" of celebrities: didn't care, don't want to know.

Studio 60 was downright awful. What kind of drama takes place on the set of a sketch comedy show? Dramas are supposed to make the viewer worry because something important is at stake. I have a hard time worrying about whether Mathew Perry is going to make people laugh.

Ahem. Studio 60 was last season, namely 06/07. So it doesn't qualify. And it was a good show so go dig yourself a grave and lie in it. There's complete horseshit on the networks and you trash a show that has had good actors and was in parts painful to watch because the main author couldn't keep himself from staging his own personal agenda on a 60 minute a week drama.
I nominate Viva Laughlin.
By saying that I find it wonderful you are recycling something that already had a competition at the beginning of the season into something at the end.
Sometimes the show that gets canceled first most likely was also the one that deserved it the most.

Good point. Maybe we should just rename the Award : The Studio 60 Award for the Most Refreshingly Canceled Show.
I have never been happier that a show got axed. It is one of those shows that all the fans pretend like it was some under-promoted hidden gem, but in reality it just sucked.
It was and Aaron Freaking Sorkin show and they promoted it like crazy. Yet it still failed. Why? because the premise of the show is fatally flawed. Never has their been a more patently absurd contingent of fans. How can anyone still believe that this show was worth it?
Nail in the coffin- it was about a sketch comedy show and Studio 60 was funny maybe five total moments.
If anyone other than Sorkin had pitched it, they would have been laughed out of the room. Studio 60 was doomed to failure.

Yeah but again - that wasn't LAST season. You can't nominate Studio 60 here. Period.

Thus, I nominate it as the namesake of the award. Feel free to read my posts before you respond to them in the future.

Cavemen was one of the most horrible 22 minutes of my tv watching life, real "through the fingers" watching, cringeworthy is too light a term of description

Definitly Viva Laughlin! I wonder what kind of drugs the tv-exces took when they thought this was a good idea for a tv show
