Stump the King: Iron Man - VIDEO

Robert Downey Jr.Since I have kids and a job, I don't get to see many movies in the theaters these days unless it's a crappy kids movie. Generally if I want to see grown up movie I have to rent the DVD. In some cases, the movie is such a blockbuster that watching it at home defeats the purpose.

Luckily once in a while a film is released that I want to see and I can also take my kids. Iron Man is one of those films.

As I watched Iron Man I couldn't help but wonder why there haven't been more TV projects starring the character. Many of the comic book characters who are featured in film today have already been on television in many different incarnations. Spider-Man has had many cartoons as well as a live action version on TV. The Incredible Hulk was extremely popular when I was a kid. I even remember Thor and Daredevil having guest roles alongside The Hulk.

Of course, Tony Stark has had a couple of animated series, but since it's the special effects that will usually inhibit a TV series about a superhero, I would think that the televised adventures of Iron Man would be easy to do. Unfortunately, Robert Downey Jr. played Tony Stark so perfectly in the film, I don't think any other actor will be able to follow suit, so a TV version of ol' Shell Head probably won't happen any time soon.

As much as I loved the movie, my favorite part had to be the many uses of Iron Man's awesome theme song from the '60's.

Here is this week's trivia question.

What is the connection between Iron Man and the TV show Delta House?

Congratulations Dorv! John Vernon is the correct answer.
