I remember seeing a brief tease during a commercial break for this during last week's ep of Grey's Anatomy, but at the time I didn't think much of it. The idea of a video blog featuring the executive producers (Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers) of Grey's struck me as something I'd expect to see as a bonus feature on a DVD set. Besides, how much were they actually going to reveal anyway? The answer? Not much. That being said, I went and watched all three parts despite my reservations. So if you don't feel like losing 20 minutes of your life, read on for some slightly spoiler-ish scoop on the future of your favorite Seattle Grace doctors. After getting some of the obligatory goofy questions out of the way (Favorite behind the scenes moment? Who would win in a fist-fight?), Shonda and Betsy dove right into a slew of questions that most fans of the show have been pondering over this season. Like I said, don't expect these answers to be encyclopedic, but here are some highlights:
- When will we find out more about Alex's background? And what's going to happen with him and Rebecca? -- Both EP's quickly agreed that Alex is indeed the character we know the least about, but we should expect some revelations in this week's two-hour finale. It'll relate directly to what happens between him and Rebecca, which Shonda and Betsy described as being heartbreaking and sad, but engrossing. We'll see a different side of Karev.
- What's up with George and Lexie? -- Shonda said that for whatever reason, George seems to sure like those Grey women. He's slept with Meredith, and there was that one time that Ellis mistook him for Thatcher and he hopped into the hospital bed with her to calm her down. They didn't really give a yay or nay, but I got the impression that we won't be seeing these two make a love connection. On the other hand...
- Is Gizzie really dead? -- The short answer is that iGeorge (I like my nickname better) isn't necessarily dead. Both Shonda and Betsy said they loved the two of them together, but acknowledged that the timing was off. Izzie was getting over Denny and George was getting out of a marriage. It was a healing process for both of them. So will they be back? It's a maybe.
- What can we expect between Bailey and Tucker? -- Shonda addressed the blow-out between the two of them that we saw last week and simply said that there will be some resolution in the finale and that there's a bigger picture for us to see.
- Will Burke ever be back? -- Nope. Besides the fact that Shonda said she felt as though his story had been told, I can't imagine why they wouldn't want Washington back. Oh wait... yes I can.
- Who will replace Addison at Seattle Grace? -- Since Addison's departure for LA, there have been less baby surgeries on the show. Shonda said that will change in season five. Remember that when Addison returned a few weeks ago, she told Webber it was time to fill her position. That will be explored next season.
And the big one...
-
Is there a McDreamy wedding and McBaby in the future? -- Shonda's response? No, yes, someday? Betsy's response? They don't really know yet. What do they know? That now is the right time for Meredith and Derek to be together, but that we shouldn't have normal expectations (like marriage and children) for them. They've always been a unique couple and once they are together for good, that won't change.
See what I mean? Vague, yet informative, at the same time. What does everyone think? Got some season five predictions based on any of this? According to the press release from ABC, there will be more questions answered on the video blog following the finale on Thursday night.

I listened to the Grey's podcast for a little while last season or so, but it became too annoying to bear. Every episode was the exact same - "You know what I *loved* about this episode? What I thought was just *brilliant*? ! Wasn't he/she just *great*? I *love* him/her." It was very much like that old Chris Farley skit on SNL : "Remember that scene, where Meredith almost drowns, and then Derek saves her? That was awesome."
They produced the damn thing, and they spent every week just patting themselves on the back and talking about how every episode was the best one ever.
