It's a step up from Baltimore. Tristan Wilds, who played Michael on The Wire, is playing the male lead in the 90210 spinoff. Wilds will take on the role of Dixon, the adopted son of the Harry and Celia Mills. The Mills family is shaping up to be much more entertaining than the Walshes. Jessica Walter and Lori Loughlin have already been cast as the grandmother and mother, respectively. I can't wait to see Michael having family dinner with Lucille Bluth and Becky from Full House. In other 90210 casting news, Michael Steger is playing Navid, producer of the West Beverly High's TV news show. I'm not familiar with Steger, but I'm thrilled that Wilds is returning to TV.
The Mills family is almost complete. I'm eager for the role of Harry Mills to be cast. The actor will have to hold his own with Jessica Walter, and that's no easy task. While I'm not part of the spinoff's target audience, I'll be watching the first few episodes out of support for Walter and Wilds.

I don't know Wilds, but casting him seems like an interesting choice and he clearly has the acting chops. At least, if he and Jessica walker are there, that'll offset the rest of the cast who were offered roles (altho', thankfully, one turned it down &, unthankfully, one did not :). While clearly the new BH 90210 will lack the self-aware irony I was hoping for, at least it'll have a bit more talent than the first run -

I'll likely never watch an episode of this show, but I'm glad some of the incredibly talented actors from The Wire such as Tristan were able to land solid roles after the show finished.

No way! Tristan Wilds goes from the highest heights of television to the lowest of the low. Or maybe the heights of camp? 90210 was a camp favorite at my Ivy League college back in the day.
Anyway, good for him for getting work. I'm sure all of his colleagues from The Wire are proud of him for getting the work. (And I bet a few of the boyz are hoping for guest appearances.) It sounds like they're assembling a pretty interesting cast, so the show might actually work.
