After six seasons, Oxygen is shutting down Talk Sex with Sue Johanson. Her final advice on love, lust and awkward positions will be dispensed this Sunday, May 11. The show will feature the year's top ten sex toys. Wheee!A frequent guest on talk shows (and a favorite of David Letterman's), the 78-year-old grandma of two has been dishing sex advice on Oxygen for six seasons. Whenever I've stumbled across the show, I always thought it was just so weird. Like getting sex advice from your grandma.
Then again, between Johanson and Dr. Ruth, maybe they make the best sexperts because you'd never look at them in a lustful way. That's just my armchair psychology talking.
"I'm going to miss it terribly," Johanson told The Associated Press. "It's been part of my life and I just love it. I'm going to miss writing scripts. I'm going to miss having to read books. I'm going to miss playing with sex toys."
OK, that's just a little too much information there, Sue.
The show had its beginnings in 1984 as a Canadian radio program. Now advancing in years, Johanson said she's realizing that 1 AM -- when the show ends -- is not her finest hour. It's a call-in show, so taping earlier in the day didn't make sense.
"I have been on television for 32 years," she said. "I think it's time. I figured if we haven't got it by now, we're not going to get it. We've got to make room for somebody else."
Johanson adds that the only editing Oxygen ever did was to urge her not to use a particular slang for penis. Hmmm, wonder which term that was.
She'll continue to give lectures and offer sex advice via Oxygen.com. And this is interesting: her IMDb.com page notes that she remains married to her husband, even though they live apart. Maybe they're still married because they live apart?
Anyway, good sex to you, Sue. Thanks for all the great advice, and have fun with those toys.

Dammit!! The hubby and I just love watching this, and now no more. The last episode we watched was hilarious. Someone called in asking about flatulence during sex. Other questions just make you giggle and feel like you are 10 yrs old again, and there is nothing wrong with feeling young again, is there?
Sad to see you go, Sue.

Sue is a Canadian Treasure. So much so that she is a reciepent of the Order of Canada. years ago when she was on the radio my husband (and the time) and I sent her a letter regarding a question about his vasectomy and not only did she address it on the show, but wrote us a personal letter. Before landing on Oxygen she was on the W Network here in Canada for years.
I have always loved her openess and sense of humour about sex. One of my favourite books of her's is Sex is perfectly natural, but not naturally perfect.

I will always remember when she went on Conan. She's sitting next to Tom Sellek and some big guy whose name I forget and pulls a large strap on on dildo out of a bag. The big guy starts inching away from her freaked out and Selleck looked like he wanted off stage. That when she said, "This is the accomodater, and it goes around the chin." She then straps the dildo around her head and starts moving her jaw causing the rubber dick to bounce around. The look those 3 men gave her was the most uncomfortable look I've ever seen on anyone.
