I didn't want to like Rules of Engagement. I like The New Adventures of Old Christine, and I thought that if I watched and liked Rules of Engagement (which has pushed Old Christine to the back burner at CBS for now) it would be like endorsing that show over Old Christine. It would almost be like cheating on Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and I did that once before years ago and she has never forgiven me.
But this past Monday I found myself wanting to watch a comedy at 9:30, so I turned it on. You know what? It's actually a good show.
Patrick Warburton is great in whatever he does (Seinfeld, NewsRadio, The Tick, serious movies) and I'm a big David Spade fan. Yeah, he basically plays the same character in every show, but he has the character down pat and always has great lines, whether it's in this show, Just Shoot Me, or 8 Simple Rules.
So now I'm torn. Do I keep watching Rules of Engagement, or swear off of CBS Mondays at 9:30 until Old Christine comes back (if it does - it could move to ABC). Hopefully there's a spot for both of them on the schedule.
Funny, I just realized: it's Puddy who is pushing Elaine out of the spotlight! High five.

No matter what anyobody says, this show is terrible in my opinion, not to mention unfunny.
If you want to watch a comedy at 9:30 on Monday, why don't you try Samantha Who?

I don't think Samantha Who is particularly funny, it's just something to watch. I caught the episode the reviewer was talking about, well a few parts anyway, and they were memorably funny.
Patrick Warburton's part in the start of the episode was hysterical, both with the neighbor's electric bill, and the life insurance bill. ;P
Though I do still wish CBS brought The Class back for a second season. =/

Agreed, The Class was ALOT funnier than Rules of Engagement. It was brilliant.

I totally agree with Jamie. I can't stand Rules of Engagement, but I absolutely adore Samantha Who?. I also really enjoy Christine. Maybe I just don't care for the comedies revolving around men. 2 1/2 Men, According to Jim, I just don't understand why people think they are funny.

I actually liked "Still Standing" and that show was canceled because they picked up the option on "Old Christine." So screw her.
And I think her show sucks. Every show... everyTHING the actors from "Seinfeld" have done since that show ended has been bad.

It's so funny, I felt the same way. Rules is a hilarious show and Christine is the best sitcom on the air. Both should be saved. It's the other shows I don't find that funny -- Big Bang -- i've tried multiple times to like this show but don't think its worth my time -- 2 and half men is just ok --

I like bits of Rules, specifically the Patrick Warburton and David Spade bits, everything else is terrible and almost puts me off watching it, I'll take whatever comedy I can get though.

Rules of engagement is funny in that I've seen that about 5 times before kind of way. I think it is funny, but not compared to shows like 30 Rock, Arrested Development, The Office, and HIMYM (yes I know they rehash things but its fresh and the characters are way more developed and interesting). That's my thing with Rules... why should I care about these people? I haven't learned much since I have been watching the show, and I have been watching since day 1.

I think Rules is funny. I could live without David Spade because he's a one trick pony, but Patrick Warburton makes me laugh. It's the cavalier delivery of his humor. It's not the greatest show ever, but it's better than Christine. That show sucked.

Got sick of Christine repeating same stall patter. Knew it when I started looking forward to the two snotty mothers at her kid's school.
Rules has gotten better as it went along. Last show was fun. Couple new players added to it esp the babe.
The scams backfiring is neat trick.
Will see how they keep it fresh.

Warburton's delivery style makes just about anything funny. He's the new Paul Lynde.

...the new Paul Lynde...Mike you're hilarious. I think YOU are the new Paul Lynde...
So anyway, I think Warburton is the greatest, but the show is just mediocre. Still, I'll watch if nothing else is on.
