You think some of the contestants on Dancing with the Stars are terpsichordian-challenged, that they look like klutzes? Well, some do. And you might think you can guess that a guy like Jason Alexander would be a complete joke on the dance floor. After all, as George on Seinfeld, did he ever seem like he could make it across the dance floor without tripping on his shoelaces?Well, the man can move. On this week's episode of Bravo's Step It Up & Dance, Jason Alexander will present his credentials as a guest judge. He'll challenge the contestants to do what he's done -- very successfully in his career -- learn musical theater choreography.
The first time I ever saw him was on stage in Merrily We Roll Along, a Sondheim musical that only ran a week. A couple of years later, Jason won a Tony award as Best Actor in a Musical for Jerome Robbins on Broadway. I saw that one, too, and he was fantastic, singing, dancing, clowning and, of course, acting. That was right before Seinfeld. Now the world knows him as George Costanza, but to me, he'll always be a Broadway song and dance man.
The competition on Step It Up & Dance has been tough, putting the players through hip-hop, apache and Stomp moves thus far. For the upcoming show, they'll be doing dance moves from the Broadway musical Damn Yankees. Lee Martino will be the guest choreographer.
Speaking of Jason and, by association, George, on CBS's Sunday Morning, there was a fascinating story about three real hand models. Naturally, the feature had to show clips from the Seinfeld episode in which George gets his dream job, hand model, only to see his career vanquished when he burns his fingers on an iron. What I love about all those old Seinfeld's is how funny they are time after time. Really; they're funnier now than when they first aired I think. Comedy has a tendency to get funnier over time, have you ever noticed?

Really love this new show Step It Up & Dance on Bravo! I watched a preview of tomorrow night’s new episode, and Michael loses control and lashes out on the other contestants! You can find the clip here:
