I really wish Tom Everett Scott would find a great role he could sink his teeth into for a few years. He's so talented, and yet he keeps ending up in short-lived and dead-end roles. The actor has signed for a two-episode guest stint on NBC's Law & Order, playing Governor Shalvoy, according to a Hollywood Reporter story. He'll be joined in one of the episodes by Alison Elliott, playing his wife, Rita Shalvoy.
Since breaking onto the Hollywood scene in 1996's That Thing You Do, Scott has floundered in short-lived series like 2002's Philly, playing Kim Delaney's love interest, and 2006's Saved, where he played a troubled paramedic. Most recently, he played Lucy Liu's estranged fiance on Cashmere Mafia.
Scott's also kept busy with movies like Because I Said So and the Air Buddies franchise, where he voices the part of Buddy, the loveable Golden Retriever. He has a few film roles coming up, including Everything's Going to Be Alright and Tanner Hall.
Still, not nearly enough for fans like me. Please, someone give this guy a great role, so I can adore him on a weekly basis.

I agree. I want him to get a great role. From the picture there, though, it looks like you've mistaken Tom Everett Scott for Peter Hermann, who was on Law and Order: SVU and is married to Mariska Hargitay. He was on Chasmere Mafia, too but he played Miranda Otto's husband...I think. I didn't watch that show very much.

You're right, that's a picture of Peter Hermann, not a picture of Tom Everett Scott. Peter Hermann plays Davis on Cashmere Mafia.

Holy cow, I knew that didn't look like Tom Everett Scott, but that's what I get for posting in my pre-caffeinated, blurry state this morning. Thanks for the heads up, Pam and Lynn. I've switched it out for the real deal.

Any chance of this being a ripped-from-the-headlines Elliot Spitzer style storyline?

As soon as I saw "Governor" I knew this was going to be the ripped from the headlines Spitzer episode. I bet several people that Dick Wolf was writing it the day the story broke and that it would either be the season finale or the season premiere...my guess is the finale...the story will be too stale by September 2008 or January 2009 (depending on when L&O returns next season)

Not that I want to pile on, but don't you mean Kim Delaney on Philly?

And wasn't he her legal associate, not her love interest?
