(S16E11) "Oh, it's going to be awkward." - James
Okay, we might be having a rather lackluster season of Big Brother, but Survivor Micronesia is kicking strategical butt. These castaways aren't messing around. They're not fickle and, once they've made up their minds on a plan, they follow through. They're diabolical and sneaky. I like that in my castaways. It's good to see some real strategy for a change even if I might not always want to see someone go so soon. Yes, I'm talking Ozzy. He's history and I think I have new favorites now. Yeah, I'm being fickle. What of it?
Read on past the jump for the full review of tonight's episode.
Last week I mentioned that I'm still not liking Skinny Dude Jason. He tends to be full of himself and way too smug for a newbie on the show. He's a strong competitor, but I personally enjoy Erik a lot more. I can only have one Skinny Survivor Dude in my life and Erik's the one. Then there's Cirie. Although in her own season she wasn't too strategical a player, she's become the PuppetMistress this season. She just keeps pulling those strings and smiling a sweet smile. I love it!
I'm glad James not only told off Parvati, but he called her out for voting against Ozzy during tribal council, too. Good for him. I like James, but I can't see him long for this game. No matter his physical strength, he's outnumbered by the women's voting block. When it goes down, it will be like the Lilliputians tying down Gulliver. Unless he has immunity, he has the largest target on his back as it now stands. I'll miss him when it happens -- James says the best lines each show!
Tonight's Survivor Auction was similar to ones we've seen in the past. They received wallets with $500 to spend on covered dishes. Most of the dishes were good things, but a few were booby prizes. One huge difference is that Natalie received a note telling her to send someone to Exile Island and take that person's money. She was definitely panicking over which person to choose and the second she chose Jason, it looked like she wished she could rescind her choice. He didn't want to go, begged not to go. Natalie asked if a new idol was buried there and Jeff Probst affirmed it. Uh-oh. The really wrong choice! They want him out, not to have a hidden immunity idol!
Damage control went down immediately amongst the women. They decided that Jason will probably find the idol (which he did) and they needed to blindside him so he won't use it. Now, he can't win immunity, either. Natalie works her wiles on him, convinces him that he has a new alliance and that the plan is to vote out James. Erik was already given a free ride this week because it was his birthday. He didn't know it and put 110% in winning the convoluted immunity challenge. The back up plan was to vote out James, but it wasn't needed.
Jason might be a very strong competitor when it comes to the physical end. But he's not too bright when it comes to trusting people, is he? Who's the smart and sneaky snake? Why, Natalie! She might even give Cirie a run for her money if she continues on the way she did tonight. According to Natalie, she's "in game mode, ruthless, cut-throat, stone-cold bitch with a smile on her face."
Sure enough, Jason bought all that Natalie was selling him. Heck, maybe I should try selling him the Brooklyn Bridge. He just might go for it! He put his trust in her when she told him that everyone was voting out James. Hook, line, and sinker! He didn't use the hidden idol and it was the second major blindside within two weeks. His blindside was even enough to make surly jury member Ozzy smile for a moment. And, the move made me a bit more aware of Natalie's actual spunk for the game.
A few random things:
- James said, "There's something wrong with that boy" about Erik offering money to lick chocolate cake and frosting off of fingers, but James took the fruit bat soup Natalie didn't want!
- I think James might be just a bit touched in the head for liking fruit bat soup!
- I can finally tell Natalie and Alexis apart. Yay.
- I'm so not liking the poor sport Ozzy we now see. First, he gave the finger to the folks at tribal council. Then he sat there and pouted like an insolent child all during tribal.
- This might be a bit sexist of me, but I am a woman. I'm so happy to see the women on the show stepping up their game and becoming a force to be reckoned with!
- I still want Parvati out, though.

I don't want to see James go.
It seems like the hidden idol is really easy to find. Of course, it seems impossible to use as the people in possession (of the real idol) seem set on keeping it until some glorious future when they thrust it high, lock their spot in the final and win alll the money, then ride off into the sunset with Jeff.

Ozzie was blindsided, but Jason was just a straight up idiot. Seriously, he wanted so badly to be popular that he forgot that he was in a competition.

Amanda and James and Eric proved themselves to be duntzes too, along with the hopeless dunzt Jason. They didn't even discuss or consider forming an alliance against the women quartet. At least based on editing.
It would have been so easy to vote off Pavarti or Cirie. They knew with 100% certainty that the quartet women were splitting their vote so if they all 4 just got together, the vote against Pavarti was guaranteed.
The guys are truely pathetic players this year. And I thought this season was supposed to be filled with nothing but the best players? Good gawd.

Thank you!
That's exactly what I thought. James and Amanda were a sure alliance. It would've been a piece of cake to convince Erik to not vote for Jason and then I am pretty sure that they could've talked Jason into using the idol and voting for someone else than Jason. They may need four or five times to explain it to Jason, but it would've worked.
Now they are all screwed...

Um, dunzt? (Kirsten Dunst?) Duntzes? C'mon. Pick a misspelling and stick to it. Or we might think you're a dunce.

I'm pissed too that Amanda didn't get with James, Jason, and Erik and get rid of that stupid hair-pie eating butch-loving bitch Natalie! I cant stand her or Parvati or Cirie. I cant stand it when the Men let the women get control of the game. It just sucks. Now the bitches are gonna be strutting around like they own the place. If I was a Man on that tribe, I would go out and catch a shitload of fish, cook it all up, then the Men would have a feast and tell the bitches "Starve you bitches!" I would do that and cuss them out nonstop until I left there. I hate it when women think they rule the world.

The best moment of the episode was when James realized that Jason DIDN'T use the immunity idol.

Cirie and Parvati have to go, hopefully they'll break their ankles and be gone soon.
no one will ever vote for parvati, cause she is just soo unlikeable! she didnt come up with any plans, she just goes along with them. her voting ozzie out was not her plan, she just went along with Cirie.
so that makes her a non-playa and gets no respect!
Cirie on the other hand, is a playa, but i just hate her! she is so bossy and controlling, arrogant, manipulative. i wouldnt like her in real life.
my fav survivor is james, really hope he wins!!

Egg, that's exactly what I thought, I just don't understand why they didn't at least TRY something! It's like they've just given up, conceded defeat! I like James and Amanda but man they are disappointing me this season.

C'mon Merve, tone it down... "that stupid hair-pie eating butch-loving bitch Natalie" eh? Combined with the rest of your comment it just proves you're a poor excuse for a human being. It's too bad, too, because I generally agree with yours and Egg's assessment of what the "other 4" should've done.
Micronesia has been an AWESOME season of the show.

I have decided to root against Natalie, no matter what. I hated her last night. I agree that Jason is an idiot as well. I was screaming at the TV - JUST WORK TOGETHER YOU FOOLS! They could have done what ever they wanted if Amanda, Erik, James, and Jason would just have gotten together and voted for one person. Dumb! It would have broken up the women's alliance as well.
I am all for girl power and what not, but they just made me throw up in my mouth a little bit .

Natalie was just plain lucky that Jason was naive as he was. once she knew there was another idol to be found she should have sent someone from her group out. they would have understood. she played it out like it was her master plan all along. she really made me sick with some of her comments. i'm sure it was Cirie that came up with the plan they went with. and for the "other 4" just plan dumb that they never thought of getting together. and didn't Amanda say she was going over "every" option over and over. i'm gonna give Erik a pass this week since he won the challenge and wasn't really thinking about saving his neck for this week, but hey Erik what about next week? it's you or James. Erik is the only one i can pull for now. James and Amanda are just not that bright, and they other woman are just riding along with whatever Cirie says. i HATE sheep.

I too agree with you Egg and Will. Amanda sat there like a bump on a log and asked James what should they do. I was screaming at the tv. You have Erik and you might be able to get Jason. It would be 4 against 4. Jason probably would have run and told Natalie but its worth a try. Now James will go next, then Erik, then Amanda.

I also thought about James, Amanda, Erik and Jason teaming up but I can see why it didn't happen. Jason is so stupid that he would have told Natalie instantly since he perceived a strong bond there. Amanda couldn't take that chance because if caught she would be on the outs - her best bet is going to the final 5 women and then getting with Cirie and Parvati to go to the final 3.

The only problem with having an all women's team is that eventually there will be a cat fight. Probably between Cirie and Natalie over who's the leader.
This just wasn't about getting rid of Ozzy for Cirie and Parvarti. If it had been they would have rejoined their alliances.

Cirie is a mastermind at this game. If you remember from her season, she basically teamed with Aras (he was the physical muscle behind her masterful strategy). If you remember, he deferred to her when it came to game decisions... a la when to vote off people like Courtney, Terry, and Shane.
This season, it seems as if Cirie is more unabashed about her game play and it should be up to the other players to vote her out immediately, or she is going to win this game. Let's look at the facts: she masterminded several ousters, blindsides, etc... everyone in the game still trusts her, while jury members hold Parvati responsible for their eliminations....
She is going to win and deservedly so. If Ami were still in the game, she would appreciate the P***Y power taking control of the game.

Why didn't James tell Jason what was going on? Sure James was vulnerable but he is anyway. And that woman would have been voted off with the other women spliting their votes between James and Jason.
But maybe James was uncertain that he could convince Erik that all the men were in danger. Amanda would have had a better shot at being one of the final three with the three men than the four women. Parvati and Cirie are bound to realize she's a threat in front of the jury, and possibly in challenges, compared to the other two women. And with the men at final four, Amanda is great at endurance and balance (as she has proved in the past). If she got rid of James at final four she could have a good chance of winning. But now it's too late. She's not very good at strategy when it gets down to the end.
