As our own Jonathan Toomey has reported, Miley Cyrus, age 15, has signed a book deal with The Disney Book Group. The book is said to be focused on Cyrus's relationship with her mother, and to emphasize how important Cyrus's family is to her. This is surely gripping material that can fill an entire book. Why, with the exception of some books by a little-known author named Laura Ingalls Wilder, I don't think we have any books about teenage girls and how important their families are to them.
Some have questioned what a 15-year-old girl could possibly fill a memoir with at such a tender age. Let's take a look at some possible book chapters:
Chapter One: Potty Training
Chapter Two: Elektra Complex
Chapter Three: Don't Other Girls Get Their Own TV Show?
Chapter Four: Learning to Live with a $10,000/Week Allowance
Chapter Five: Getting My Period.. On Set!
Chapter Six: My First Starbucks Mochachino and Other Milestones
Chapter Seven: My Journey From Blond to Brunette
Chapter Eight: Touring can be Tiring
Chapter Nine: How I Missed out on the Suckiness of Junior High by Being Tutored
Chapter Ten: Learning to Shop for Awards Show Dresses!
The sequel could feature Cyrus's first kiss and cover How I Missed Out on High School by Touring and Being Famous as well as Learning to Drive from my Limo Driver.

What Miley Cyrus has to say about her life can be said in a simply 30 minute TV interview. But a book? I don't think so! She's only 15 and hasn't really lived long enough to have much to talk about. Oh, I know she's a big star and all, but that's the problem. Most girls her age aren't going to be able to relate to her celebrity life since few of them are living it. Or, ever will. This is just one more way for Disney to make a buck off her and one more way for her to make a buck. I for one think the book is going to be a waste of time, energy, ink, and paper.

Well, maybe she can say it in a 30 minute interview, but why not write a book and what is wrong with making money off of it.
For the most part she promotes healthy and moral choices for young girls. There isn't a lot of famous people doing that. Although, with the recent bra pictures, she may be headed in another direction.
She is a little snarky, and gets on my nerves, but if my tween is going to be interested in popculture type things, I'd rather it be Miley/Hannah than most of what is out there.
And good for her and for Disney for making money. Gasp-- how horrible. Nobody is forcing anyone to buy it. If it isn't your thing, skip it.

I couldn't agree more, Karen. I think her writing a book of memoirs at her age is silly, but there are millions of tweens out there that love the girl and will line up to get this book. She's also in this for making money and this will definitely do that. Nothing wrong with it at all and nobody's being forced to buy anything.
