There hasn't been much information leaked from the set of the new Star Trek movie, but that isn't from lack of fans trying.
My favorite part of this TV Guide interview with Leonard Nimoy and Zachery Quinto (who both play Spock in the film somehow - I'm sure it involves time travel and science) is when Quinto reveals that one day during shooting, director JJ Abrams took out his cell phone and showed Quinto a photo that was on the web. A photo of the very scene they were currently shooting that day, in that very room! Personally, at that point, I would have ordered the doors locked and looked around and see who it could have been.
The interview also touches on Nimoy's thoughts about the history of Star Trek over the past 40 years and how it has affected him, what Abrams brings to Star Trek, and what Quinto knows about the next season of Heroes (it isn't much - the new episodes don't start until the fall).
The Star Trek movie premieres next summer. I think some fans are in line right now.

After Nemesis (made me cry with its suckitude) and Insurrection (almost as bad), I am expecting a crapfest of epic proportions, so I can be only pleasantly surprised with the results.

After reading that interview, I am a little more hopeful. Nimoy's comments make me hope that this will really be a restart for the franchise, and truly leave behind the awfulness the last couple of movies have built up. I can't imagine he would be as effusive as he is if the movie wasn't good. Crossing my fingers.

I stand by the fact that "Nemesis" was a solid movie, and had always hoped for a Riker-led Titan mission for the next flick. But since I'm also a huge Abrams fan (even enjoying "Mission: Impossible 3"!), I had and continue to have high hopes for this new incarnation of Star Trek.
I still would've preferred jumping forward rather than falling back, but the right people are involved and the movie should be both engaging and entertaining. And everything the actors (and Nimoy, whose opinion holds an extremely high merit) keep saying indicate it will deliver.

He never said the picture was from the very same day, only that it was the room they were still shooting in. It's altogether possible that they shot in the same room over multiple days. His implication is that the image was extremely recent, but he never says, "...very scene they were currently shooting that day..." only the same room. I think you are drawing conclusions based on assumption, Bob.
Maybe Quinto meant the very same day, maybe not, but he definitely didn't say "same day shooting".

If it was his first day shooting -- as the quote you extracted suggested -- then it was probably taken from that very same day.

You are absolutely right. If it was his first day of shooting and the picture was of him standing in that room, then there's no way it could've been from another day.

i am personally a big fan of star trek and cant wait 4 the new movie however i think it was a big mistake going back there's no way that they can keep in line with the original series and still make it look like its set in the future i mean 4 gods sake the deflector dish is a satellite dish our mobile phones are more advanced than their hand held comunator and their try corders are bigger than a lap top need i go on?
