This letter brought back some memories for me...
Al writes, "Several years back...'90s I think, there was a show where they played classic old movies and the original dialogue was dubbed out and replaced with new dialogue. What comes to mind is the original Night of the Living Dead as one of the episodes. Do you know the name of this show?"
The show in question was called Mad Movies with the LA Connection.
I remember watching this show in syndication and really enjoying it. It's important to note that this show premiered before Mystery Science Theater 3000 and was performed in front of a movie theater full of people. While MST3K may have been funnier, there was less snarkiness in the Mad Movies.
Here's a short clip of the show and, yes, it is available on DVD.
Now for this week's question...
On Seinfeld, what movie was George watching when he yelled, "That's gotta hurt!" to a theatreful of people?

There's a show similar to this currently running on the Si network, called "Circumsized Cinema". But before all of them was of course "Fractured Flickers" by Jay Ward's company and hosted by Hans Conreid....

JERRY: You're going to that again? Why? Just to do that stupid line?
GEORGE: It's a performance, Jerry. Like what you do.
JERRY: That's not what I do.
GEORGE: Isn't it?
JERRY: Maybe a little. Ah, hell, I guess it is.

It's bad enough that George went to the film just to use that one-liner, but beforehand he goes ahead and tries to set it up by telling the ladies next to him, "I've never seen this movie before."
He deserves what he got.
