You think you know pop culture? Do you watch Jeopardy and think, "I'd clean up on that show!" What about The World Series of Pop Culture on VH-1 -- are you a wiz at that one? Well, you don't have to wait for new episodes. Check out this new web site, Hey, Nielsen, and get going on the quizzes. It's killer.Experts from all kinds of pop culture web sites -- including our own King of TV Paul Goebel right here on TV Squad -- have contributed to the quizzes. And you can actually win some cool stuff -- iPod nano, one-year subscription to Netflix, $1,000 -- if you're smart enough. I, sadly, am not. I was severely slapped down by the quiz I took. I dare you to try and do better! I'm going back to the books before my next shot!
By the way, this is a real Nielsen Company site. And it's not just quizzes. They are also inviting comments and reaction to all kinds of stuff -- movies, TV, music, personalities, celebrity. The information gathered is then going to be used in Nielsen research.
As they write on the site, "Hey! Nielsen is more than just a new idea in opinions and social networking: it's a way for you to influence the TV and movies you watch, the music you listen to, and more... all while making a name for yourself. That's right, Hey! Nielsen isn't really "about us," it's about you. You're the reason The Nielsen Company built this site and will continue to tweak and polish it based on your input."
Well, alrighty then! Seriously, this seems like a fun site to add to the bookmarks, and a real challenge.

I'm not seeing any quizzes on their site. How do you find the quizzes?

On the right side, there's a rolling ad right under the "Join Hey, Neilsen section. Click on it and you'll get the quiz!

That site is Satans spawn! They are just doing it because they know everyone hates the nielsen company right now. They dont give a crap about what we think about tv shows. They are the reason all the good shows get canned - with their outdated ratings system. They are just trying to make it look like they care. All they care about is getting paid by the networks and keeping everyone fooled into thinking that their numbers are accurate - which they are not! Screw nielsen! They are just a bunch of frauds!

I almost installed this a few weeks ago and then I read the fine print on their software. The thing basically sends them everything you do on your PC including emails, IMs bank information etc.
Its all right here in the fine print (see what information do we collect section):
http://www.nielsennetpanel.com/pnl/us/privacy_policy
"We may be able to collect information contained in the title bars at the top of any "window" that is active on your computer, depending on the application. This might include information such as the browser you are using, the name and contents of the web pages you visit, the name of a file open on your computer and, when you have an email open, the subject line of the email. For certain types of email and instant message applications, we may also track the subject line, header information and contents in order to identify and report on email advertising and marketing. We may a lso track email header information as a way to verify the user of the computer and their corresponding online usage. We do not examine or use the text of any email or instant message, nor can we read any documents open on your computer."
Talk about BIG BROTHER...I would never ever run this on my PC!
