There's no getting around it -- there's a crapload of reality shows on TV. The writers' strike wreaked havoc on television programming as we knew it this year, so not only did returning reality monsters like American Idol and Dancing with the Stars come back, but we were blindsided with new ones; this is a TV website, so we're not going to ignore this enormous elephant in the room. We've gotten some requests for a "reality-free" page, where you won't see any posts related to reality television as posted here on TV Squad. Behold, the Reality-Free page! Like other categories, you can subscribe to that category's RSS feed as well. We've just started using it today, but it will continued to feature any non-reality TV posts from now on.

I am assuming that this page will be really light on content until sweeps gets into full swing.

Thanks--I have noticed that I have to wade through a lot of posts related to reality shows, none of which I watch.

Hasn't been much to read here since it was infested with reality show crap. I have never and will never watch a reality show so; I can't develop any interest in reading about them. It's very disappointing that so many people have been suckered into investing so much of their time on this low brow garbage. I'm sure the creators love paying bargain basement prices to produce shows that, essentially, have no name stars and no screenplays yet command Superbowl ad revenues. Why do people care who got picked up off a street corner to sing or who got kicked off an island? I just find it insulting to be told I should give a rats ass about this stuff.

I find it insulting to be told that I shouldn't care about reality shows. Who are you to decide what is good TV and what is bad TV? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Oh man, this is the greatest idea EVER. Thank you SO much for doing this! I have immediately updated all links. If I never see another post about reality tv it will be too damn soon. The stuff is like a plague.

I really enjoy TV Squad but I wish I could filter out some shows that are on the website. If I see one more fuckin Big Brother update I'm going to puke. Sometimes the front page seems to be filled with BB updates. The others I just scroll past if I don't like them.

Like a previous posted said, I forgot to mention all of the "AI updates." I feel like with the lack of content, TV Squad is using these shows as a filler.

Honestly I'd just like to see one without Big Brother all over it. I mean I get it, AOL is a big sponsor or w/e, but do we really need 10+ articles about it a week?

Oh my lord! Yesterday I was seriously considering creating a Yahoo Pipes feed that filtered out all the Big Brother posts, and you've gone and saved me the trouble.
I don't have anything against fans of reality TV, and as a TV blog I know you don't really have the option not to cover reality shows, so I think it's really considerate of you to provide this alternate feed for those of us who aren't into reality shows. Thanks!

P.S. I would be really interested in a peek at your RSS subscriber stats, to see how many people dropped your main feed today and switched, like me, to the reality-free feed.

And then maybe you could forward this info to all the networks to take a hint.
Now if we could only apply this concept of reality-free feed to the actual network broadcasts! :-)

Now only if you could make your feed show the full articles, not just the first part and 'click here to read the rest'.
I live in hope!!
