I'm not a big fan of reality shows, but I really did enjoy The Mole. It lasted two seasons on ABC (not counting the truly stupid Celebrity Mole that came later) and was hosted by Anderson Cooper. Cooper, as you know, is busy over on CNN with his own nightly show, Anderson Cooper 360, so ABC needed a new host for the revival that's coming up later in May. And now they've named him.
Jon Kelley will be the new host of The Mole, the man in charge of guiding contestants (and one spy) through an international game of searches, stunts, and elimination. Kelley used to be an anchor for the syndicated celebrity news show Extra and an anchor for Fox Sports Network.
Let's hope this new Mole sticks with the same plot and style of the original show. One thing I liked about the first show is that they somehow found contestants you didn't immediately hate with a passion, contestants who seemed to really want to play the game and not just appear on television as some stepping stone to something else. Reality shows have gone on so long now that it's probably hard to find people like that, but I'll be turning in to this to see how it is.

I hope he is a good as Anderson. He never hammed it up. I loved when the contestants were struggling up a hill and Anderson casually rode by eating a sandwich.

I'm going to go ahead and say I'm the opposite on The Mole...I thought the celebrity version was hilarious with Corbin driving himself crazy with clues, Stephen Baldwin being a psycho, etc. It was much more enjoyable than the regular Mole.

I was hoping Corbin Bernsen would be the new host -- he'd be great, give his history with the show. I bet the producers asked him, but he went insane before he could answer.

whats up with those half second mole 'commercials' that are showing up right before a series on ABC starts? right after the 'last' commercial there is a quick flash of the Mole logo and then its gone. First i thought it was a mistake but it has happened a half dozen times over the last couple weeks. Its weird.

Anderson Cooper has publicly stated that he'd never do The Mole again as he hated doing it to begin with. I thought he acted "smarmy" when he was the host but know i know it's because he genuinely didn't like doing it.

If that's the case then they need to get another guy who doesn't want the job to do it.

I loved the first season of the US version(which I bought on DVD) and loved the first 3 seasons of the Australian version - although the 4th season of the Australian show was just crap.
