If you love America's Funniest Home Videos -- and I know a lot of you do because the show's been running since 1989 -- you're the likely target audience for something new from the network. ABC plans to produce Wipe Out, a new reality competition from producer Matt Kunitz (Fear Factor). The idea for the show is to create -- rather than collect a la AFHV -- spills, splats, crashes and wipe outs ever seen on TV. Endemol USA (Big Brother, Deal or No Deal, 1 vs. 100) is producing the show for ABC.
The goal will be chuckles, not broken bones, but you never know what'll happen when 24 contestants vie against each other in a progressively more complicated and difficult obstacle course. The number is eventually narrowed down to four combatants who enter the Wipe Out Zone, a variation of the Thunderdome (without the threat of death). He or she that emerges from the Zone will win $50,000. That's at the end of every episode.
John Anderson, a familiar face from ESPN's SportsCenter has been tapped at the host alongside Jill Wagner. Jill, by the way, is an actress. She played Larrin on Stargate: Atlantis and Krista Starr on Blade: The Series.

Another yawn fest that won't last long! Please stop with the new reality shows and bring back written comedies already

wow.
How are you going to dump on a show based on nothing more than a two paragraph description of its concept?
Yeah, there's probably too much reality TV out there, but seriously dude, how about watching before telling us all how terrible it is...

Read the headline thinking it was going to be a reality-based surfing competition i.e. amateurs going for a pro card/contract/endorsement. THAT, I would actually watch ... and I'm not even a huge fan of surfing.

While Jill Wagner is a beautiful woman, her "acting" leaves a lot to be desired. I saw her on Stargate: Atlantis and I think the only reason she was cast was her looks. She hasn't been in a lot of shows because there are competent casting directors out there that see she is all looks and little talent. If she was a least a decent actress, she would be in a lot of other guest starring roles just based on her looks alone. It is telling to me that this is the type of job she gets now. I bet she is so glad that she has the Mercury car commercials to fall back on since all she has to do in those is look good and spout out 10 or so seconds of dialogue.

hey...this show is just an american version of MXC. I'll bet it won't be nearly as funny though. MXC is hysterical.
