Kelly Preston slated for mini-arc on Medium

Kelly PrestonDidn't Medium's Allison see this coming? Apparently not. Kelly Preston will be joining NBC's Medium for a four-show stint. Kelly will be playing a character named Meghan Doyle, a venture capitalist who invests in Joe Dubois, Allison's husband's, new solar-based invention. Presumably her interest in Joe is all business, but by the time the first of four episodes ends, the one called Partners in Crime, you can bet that the tension between Allison and Joe will be positively palpable.

"We needed an actress who exuded both intelligence and sexuality. Someone who could stand toe-to-toe with Patricia (Arquette) and Jake (Weber), and credibly create chaos in a household and a marriage that is as strong as any on television," explained creator Glenn Gordon Caron. Just the idea of another woman getting between Allison and Joe is hard to buy because they do seem incredibly united and in love. That's one of the strongest elements of the show, besides Allison's psychic abilities. No matter what the craziness in Allison's life, her bizarre dreams and the messages she receives, she could always rely on the strong family around her, Joe and the kids.

Kelly Preston, more famous the past 10 years as John Travolta's spouse, appeared on Kirstie Alley's Fat Actress back in 2005 and did a couple of episodes of the forgettable Joey. Coming up later this year for her is the Lifetime TV movie, The Tenth Circle, based on the New York Times bestseller by Jodi Picoult.
