I'm not what you'd call a fan of The Bachelor. I only watched Seasons 3, 4 and 7 of the ABC reality show (it's now season 12) and watched its spin-off, The Bachelorette. I had no plans to tune in this season but, since there was nothing else on that interested me and because I was too lazy to switch channels after watching Dancing with the Stars, I decided to watch the "London Calling" version of the dating reality series. The main difference between this season and the others is the fact that the hunk du jour is from London. Besides that, the series hasn't changed much since I watched Charlie O'Connell give the final rose to Sarah Brice.
I must admit that 27-year-old Matt Grant is a good choice for the series so far. Not only is he good looking, he is part of a family that seems to love one another, has a good job, and seems to have a head on his shoulders. However, the man wants to settle down and has an accent! Oh, that English accent! Many of the ladies melted as soon as they heard Matt say, "Thanks for being on the show."
So far, Matt being from London doesn't seem to push ladies away. But what will the women do when they learn that accepting the final rose will more than likely mean relocating to England? Some of them, when doing small talk with Matt, said that they just moved to a new city, started a new job, etc. Will they be willing to give it all away for love?
Speaking of the ladies, this year's crop of women seems fitting except for crazy Stacey. Seriously ABC, you thought that Stacey was a contender for Matt's heart?!?! Come on! Her appearance on the show screams "we want a crazy chick that will stir up the pot and have fans talk around the water cooler." I don't know where to start with her. I guess Marshana said it all during the episode. It's almost a good thing that she acted out like that during the premiere so that Matt could see who she really is and give a rose to someone who really has a shot!Since the show didn't change format much and since there is as much backstabbing and hair pulling as before, there is very little chance I'll watch the entire series. However, London will be Calling me until the return of my usual Monday series.
