She's trying one more time. That'll make it three attempts, but who's counting. Three attempts since the new century, that is. Anyway, the point is that Geena Davis's new police drama, Exit 19, has been greenlighted by CBS. The Oscar-winning actress (for The Accidental Tourist), is going from playing the first female president on Commander in Chief, to an eccentric New York homicide detective who's also raising two kids -- sans spouse -- in suburban Long Island. The series is written by Jeff Bell and Ms. Davis will executive produce with Gene Stein and Nina Wass. Reportedly, CBS president Nina Tassler has a personal interest in getting Geena on the network; they share the same alma mater, Boston University. Not too long ago, when Mandy Patinkin walked out of Criminal Minds, one of the names considered to replace him was Geena Davis.
In addition to Commander in Chief, which got off to a big start on ABC in 2005 but faded down the stretch, Geena tried her hand at sitcom with The Geena Davis Show in 2001. And back in the 1980's, before being on the big screen, she was a regular on Buffalo Bill, made a couple of notable appearances on Family Ties, and had a short-lived comedy series called Sara.

1. Could they have picked a worse picture of her?
