OK, so we've all seen the latest episode of Lost and we now know who the Oceanic Six are.
Don't we?
There seems to be some confusion among fans as to whether we've seen the last of the six "survivors" (in quotes because who the hell knows what the end game will reveal). Up until last night's episode we saw that Jack, Kate, Hurley, and Sayid definitely survived. Last night we were supposed to find out the last of the Oceanic Six. It was revealed that Sun survived too, but Jin died (possibly on the island, but that's another plot point to be revealed later).
So if we count Sun that's five (Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, and Sun). Who is the sixth person? ABC has been trumpeting for a week now that we would find out who the last survivor was in last night's episode, so if we're to take Lost producers and the ABC marketing department at their word, then Aaron has to be one of the survivors, whether he was on the flight manifest or not. Ben doesn't count, and just because they showed Michael was still alive last night doesn't at all mean that he is one of the six (his scenes were in the present, not the future).
So if we take the show by their word and last night's ep showed Sun to be the last of the six, then the Oceanic Six are Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, Sun and Aaron. I think that a lot of people didn't really include Aaron in the mix because he was born later, but I think with what we know now he has to be the sixth person. Right?
Thoughts? Disagreements?

Well, when Jack was on the witness stand in "Eggtown", his "story" stated that eight people survived the crash and two of them died on the island. Since Aaron was not born at that time, he should not be considered as one of the Oceanic Six. Thus there is still another of the "Six" that is to be revealed. I think somehow Michael is one of them since he is already on the freighter.

I hadn't thought of that before. That would seem to rule out Aaron for sure. The only other person we have seen to be alive off the island is Ben.
He could have stolen the identity of one of the survivors, but it seems that he is living "underground" so to speak, so I don't think he is one of the six.

Unless Jack was counting Claire's unborn baby as one of the surviving 8. The two that died according to his story, must have been Claire (since she had to survive to give birth) and Jin (he had to survive to get Jun pregnant).
Now whether Jack told the truth or not, the above seems to cooberate what he said.

The day of his death is given as the day of the crash. So unless they were joining the mile high club, getting Sun pregnant is no reason for him be one of the two who died after surviving. Even more - dieing on the day of the crash means he most likely is NOT someone who survived initially.
You are right about Claire IMHO. She had to survive to give birth to Aaron.
So IMHO the second person who did not survive is still unknown.

Has anyone else noticed that thus far all of the people shown being off the island are also all of the people that were nowhere near the hatch (the swan station) at the end of the 2nd season when it exploded. Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sawyer, Mike, and Walt were on the opposite side of the island by the pier, with Ben and few of the others as Mike was trading them for a way off the island. While Sayid, Jin, and Sun were on Des' Boat, trying to be the other end of a pincer attack.
If Dan's concerns that people who were exposed to high levels of radiation or electromagntism may not safely leave the island, then there's a good chance that everyone on the beach (and the caves possibly) can't just leave without "side effects". ( the Swan's hatch door was shown landing on the beach, so it wasn't that far into the jungle, or at the very least it hints that fallout of whatever kind reached them.
Anyhow.. That's a total of 9 survivors that can leave the island safely if my count is correct. Mike and Walt were told to keep tight lipped when they left, and would likely have a cover story, so it might be easier to just say they died, or not even mention them at all. Sawyer doesn't want to leave the island, although he could if he wanted or needed to at a later time. If Desmond's prediction that Claire and Arron leave the island via Helicopter is true they would also likely be counted as official "survivors" although since we don't see Claire at all in the future, it would seem that she had "side effects" of some kind and sadly doesn't make it. I wonder if Arron also suffers from some kind of side effects as well, or was immune to them since he was born on the island, and doesn't have a pre-island life to transition to...

Well, after the last episode I was somewhat confused. But I think the 6th could be Sun's baby? Is that possible?

I honestly don't think Jin is dead. Obviously when Jack was on the witness stand he said that the ppl who were "rescued" were the only ppl so survive the crash. This is a story that was made up for some reason bc the flashfowards have hinted that the "oceanic 6" have been hushed about something and have been bribed.
I think the rest of them are still on the island and Sun has no way of getting back "so far". So it would make sense that there would be a gravestone for him since the world thinks he is dead. Bc someone tell me if I am right, But when it showed Jin's gravestone the camera lingered on it for a minute. I dont have tvo so I didnt get to go back and see when was said on it. She did call out for Jin when she was in labor and I think it is more than her "forgetting" that he is dead. Perhaps she knows he is still alive.

I think the sixth could also be Ji Yeon, Sun's newly born and healthy daughter.

It's Jin! Clearly. They didn't bring back the bodies of the other people who had died on the Island so why would they bring Jin. Jin was one of the Oceanic Six and died afterwards.

How is Jin part of the oceanic six if his date of death was the day of the crash? (according to the tombstone) Obviously, he is part of the cover up in some way (either still alive on the island or dead before the rescue), because of the date of his "death." Jin is not part of the Oceanic 6, if he was then the date would be different.

From Lostpedia: "Jin's tombstone has the date September 22, 2004 on it, the day of the crash. This implies that the Oceanic 6 have told the world that he died in the crash."
So, it doesn't look like your theory works.

Excellent point! I didn't even pause to wonder why his body would be brought back. Here's some thoughts:
1. The newspaper clipping that Jack had, was it the birth of Ji Yeon? Did he not want to go because something tragic and traumatic happened with Jin?
2. The person in the casket that Jack visited...Jin?
3. Kate said she saw it (the newspaper clipping) but didn't go so...
My hypothesis is that Jin did something terrible to the rest of the Oceanic Six (likely back home or on the way back home) because it was either that or something would happen to Sun and the baby. He just told Sun in last night's episode that he would do ANYTHING for her and the baby. Sounded ominous to me. I think Ben or someone (Dharma, Widmore, who knows) will force Jin to choose between the rest of the group and Sun and the baby in some manner and he will choose the Sun. This will be the terrible thing he'll do to the others and would separate them from him and Sun (like no one coming to visit her other than Hurley, who is the most forgiving of the group). He later dies in the USA (the casket) but is returned to Korea to be buried (remember, Sun wanted to live there, not in the USA).
Those are just my thoughts.

EDIT: Looks as though my comments are a bit troubled in light of the tombstone date of death for Jin...

I don't think the 6th member has been revealed - I'm pretty sure it is supposed to be revealed by the 7th episode.
Also, I don't think Jin is dead. The tombstone they showed was part of the Oceanic cover up, to which the Oceanic 6 are privy. He is probably still on the island, fishing with Bernard and drinking beer with Sawyer.
