(S02E05) "I think we have a problem." - Goetz, master of understatement
Well, I guess if anyone had doubts about the evilness of Goetz, those doubts should be erased as of this episode. I actually got chills thinking about Mimi recovering and telling the truth about what happened at the farm.
Goetz already lost four men and taking a hospital full of deputies is considerably more difficult than taking out one little girl with a shotgun. Goetz either really wants Mimi dead, has some Hawkins-sized stones or both.
I was really afraid that something like this would happen. By going after the residents of Jericho, Goetz clearly crossed a line. The only way the rangers can respond now is by pushing back. Even if they can hold off Goetz until Beck returns, it won't change anything. When a show reaches this point in the story, I often feel frustrated because violence has become the only answer. It's not that I have a problem with violence, I just can't wait to see some, especially when it's so well-deserved.
The mystery voice has gotten a little tedious, in my opinion. Up until this episode, he hasn't given any information that we all hadn't already guessed and he isn't offering any real solutions either. Only a take charge guy like Hawkins could make him contribute like he did tonight.
It seems that many of you were right about Trish (AKA J&R Blondie). Now the question is will she actually join the town when they go up against Jennings & Rall and the Cheyenne government?
Ever since this show began, people have made the mistake of underestimating Hawkins. I don't know which I loved more; seeing the Ravenwood guys pay for being so cocky and stupid or watching Hawkins snap another neck. While watching that scene, I realized that Jericho works on a very visceral level and has from the beginning. The images of war, violence, death and the occasional glimmer of hope touch the viewer in a place that very few shows do nowadays. With that in mind, I didn't know if I should be angry at Fred the mole or feel bad for what was clearly going to happen to him when Hawkins found out what he was doing.
I really feel bad for poor Heather. All she wanted was to build a bridge of fellowship between Jericho and New Bern and now there's a bounty on her head. It was nice to see her friends stopping by to give her a heads up, though. I guess there's still some humanity left in New Bern after all.
Quite frankly, what happened in New Bern is exactly what's going to happen in Jericho. Military might can only prevail for so long. Major Beck can stand and shake his head all he wants but the image of Goetz's dead body is exactly what New Bern needs to break free from his grip.
The scene with Stanley and Bonnie really tore me up. I don't know what else to say except that I will really miss her.

This was a great episode, Stanley signing to Bonnie was truly touching. Hawkins and Jake working together is awesome!!! I love how he played the ravenwood guys when they entered his house. Okay, the only thing I have an issue with is Stanley killing Goetz. Because Jake even told him not to!!! I would of loved to see Goetz tortured somehow. Next week looks good too, so I am excited to find out if there will be a season 3!!!!!

I just love this show. I cried when Mimi cried - damn she is good at the distraught, crying thing. I got teary-eyed when Stanley was signing to his sister too. I was sad to see her go. I hope Stanley comes back from this because I love him and Mimi together.
Jake and Hawkins are two cool dudes and work well together. This show just has everything. A good mystery, good action and suspense and those few tender moments that totally mess with the "girlie girl" inside me. I just love, LOVE this show.
Geotz got off easy. I would have preferred a little more humiliation instead of just a bullet to his head. I really hope Stanley comes back from shooting him.
Anyone hear anything about season 3? Last night and the last episode they keep saying "only * more episodes left of the season" not the series. I hope they aren't messing with our heads.

I know!!! I had to rewind it twice to make sure I heard correctly...that it was the final two of the "season". I have made a date with my husband to re-watch with him the entire show from season one til now, which I already did in the spand of 3 days. I made a mental note to watch this show and three days ago I sat at my computer that night and started with the pilot..stayed up til 3am! Finished watching yesterday the termination of cause..and I was very moved when he signed to his sister too and Mimi crying! I could kick myself for not watching this show earlier! Great actors, plots, concepts, direction, everything! But I'm officially a new, dedicated fan! What a Great show, and I'm not a tv person..what with children, and a full course load of college classes...thank God for spring break..and 8:30pm bed times. LOL or else I'd never would have been able to watch this show, in peace! And you know you've got to be able to pay attention to the details. All in all I love it.

One of my favorite things about Jericho is the plausibility of the idea. I would probably say other shows would have Stanley "say" goodbye to Bonnie. But I would think in real life, a brother who has signed to his little sister for that long, would "sign" goodbye instead.
I can't blame Stanley for what he did, because that guy killed his baby sister, and almost killed his (soon to be) wife. As much as I hated to see Bonnie die, I think this was almost "necessary" to get Stanley on board with the "resistance".

I so love this show - this is the best one yet...I REALLY hope for another season! I would really hate to see this show not get another full season to show everyone where this can lead! What a great cast!

I don't think what happened with New Bern will happen to Jericho. Beck seems pretty reasonable and Jericho is a little bit more about diplomacy than New Bern. Plus the wheels in Becks head are already turning with his new information about Valente.

I actually got a little teary-eyed when Stanley was talking to Bonnie in sign language. It was a very touching moment that should not have happened with such senseless violence. I found it a little unusual that Stanley killed Goetz, but that should have been expected. I agree, I wish they would have tortured him a little or made his death a little more dramatic.
Hawkins is awesome. Man, could you imagine how much it would suck to be a Ravenwood guy, coming to pick up some lowly husband, only to find out its a CIA operative trained in martial arts. Christ, I was laughing my butt off as I watched those bumbling fools walk unknowingly into it.
Keep rooting for Season 3! This show deserves it! :)

Boy, there has been a lot of death in the last 2 episodes... what happened to the plucky survivors rallying against the crisis/emergency o' the week kinda show this started as!
It's a shame that this show really has no hope of a third season since it has consistently been 3rd in the timeslot and it's ratings are lower than they finished season 1 at.

I think the medical center escape scene was clever. and it had humor, " I think the hole needs to be a little bigger". I like the diverse writing.

Thanks to the PTB for listening to the public and keeping Jericho on the tube. This season (so far) has been great.
I'm hoping they opt to continue this show (series).

I liked last night's episode but at the same time feel a little screwed by the whole Jericho experience. Call me crazy, but I don't think all this is getting wrapped up in two episods and, as was said above, Jericho stands no chance of getting a Season 3.
and Yes, I said "No Chance" They're on the most watched network and they're finishing dead last in their timeslot against reruns and news shows no less. They even lost in the 18-49 demo which is usually friendly to this type of show (Jericho got a 1.9/5 while a L&O:SVU rerun got 3.0/8 and Primetime got a 2.8/8). I mean, the show averaged 9.5 million viewers for Season 1 while last nights show got a paltry 5.87 million.
No amount of Nuts is going to save them this time.

Love, love, love, Jericho, this episode was terrific, Stanley saying good-bye to Bonnie, Mimi's dispair, the execution of Goetz reminded me of that famous photo from the Vietnam War when the Vietnamese general just pulled put his gun and shot the VC in the head, in the street, and it was all captured on film!
Must be another season, jsut like last season left us wanting more, this season is no where clsoe to tying up all the lose ends.
Forget Lost, here is a story line I can actually follow!

I think the voice on the phone talking to Hawkins is the president. Any guesses?

No it's not the president. When Hawkins give mimi the email address she says something about his designation. I am surprised nobody else caught it.

For those who think it is the president on the phone, it is not. How and why would he out himself? The voice over the phone mentioned to think bigger, and it meant that J&R and the president are together in taking over... It has to be someone we haven't seen yet, or in a episode last season when they gave a full-Hawkins episode explaining his past. No, the address is not the president either, he is not to be trusted and Hawkins knows this.

The Voice on the phone sounds like Grey Anderson, the mayor, to me. Good episode. If they had had more like this and not the drawn out boring ones the first season Jericho would have 15 million viewers now.

It doesn't sound anything like Gray to me.
And I believe that the voice provided the e-mail, but that doesn't mean that the e-mail was his.
And by the way, Cathy, unless you're 1) psychic or 2) a writer on the show, how can you say "wrong" to somebody else's opinion?
