Too many anguished nights have I spent watching Showtime's Dexter, wondering aloud, "Why can't I control Dexter's actions through my Xbox like so much Lara Croft?", and I know you have too. Believe it or not, we freaks are in luck, because it looks like there's going to be a Dexter video game. Finally! Another few months without it and I would have killed someone.Okay, I think I have reached my sarcasm quota of the day, so let's get serious here. Dexter is a fantastic show and I have watched it faithfully through its run so far. However much I enjoy it, I cannot imagine it becoming a video game, let alone playing it. The show is built around blood, self-tortured deception, and internal monologue.
Apart from the blood, I'm having a tough time figuring out how the rest of Dexter's complex character will be included. After all, the show is a lot more than just a slasher story, but wouldn't most of the game's activity have to be based around it to provide some sort of physical aspect?
Showtime is going to get some huge props if they manage to pull this one off. Personally, I'd rather have a Doakes video game, where I'd get to pop out from behind various things and shout, "Surprise, motherf*cker!" That'd be so epic.

Tap X to appear human! Double-tap Y to offer donuts! Pull left trigger to make witty remark on internal monologue.
This game is going to rock.

Bizarrely, this is exactly what the press release says makes it perfect for a videogame conversion. Who knew?
Maybe they didn't get past "blood" in the list.
