The scheduling for Big Brother 9 is very odd this year. The houseguests have frantic periods of activity, then sit and stew for days awaiting the live eviction show and head of house competition. I blame the Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday schedule for a lot of the drama during the doldrums. Here's the actual time line -- eviction and HOH on Wednesday evening, nominations and food competition on Thursday. power of veto competition on Friday. Then, with the exception of the power of veto meeting ... there's nothing to do until Wednesday rolls around again!
If you want to know what's happened in the Big Brother House of Misfit and Inappropriate Toys, read on past the jump. There will be spoilers for both Sunday and Tuesday shows.
Just to get the main skinny already reported out of the way:
- HOH couple Joshuah and Sharon nominated Matt/Natalie and Ryan/Allison for eviction. The main target is the latter couple.
- The food competition was a whole house win food groups kind of event. The feeds were blocked for it, but no one is on slop this week. They seem to have a pretty good array of foodstuffs in the storage room but no bread (no carbohydrates)..
- Joshuah and Allison had a huge blow-up, but then she apologized. But then she interrogated more and he didn't really buy the apology.
- Allison has single-handedly gotten just about everyone in the house mad at her including Ryan. She's way too concerned with who said what about whom (or her). It's Big Brother. That's part of what it's all about. Sheesh.
Joshuah and Sharon have been on a huge anti-Allison binge since the Allison/Joshuah showdown on Wednesday. From trashing her to each other in the HOH room to running around to others to make sure the vote is to evict them, they have Allison on their minds. Ryan feels similar to how Alex felt about being saddled with Amanda. He's positive that if he gets evicted this week, it will all be due to Allison's actions.
No one in the house wants Ryan and Allison to win the POV comp and they will do all in their power to keep them from winning it. Well, Ryan and Allison would probably like to win it and at least he will give it his all. I'm not as sure about Allison. I think it's getting to the point where she seriously wants out of the house. After all, she hates them all, right? She's been going around to all the other houseguests telling them she has to win today. So, maybe she'll give it a serious go, but maybe it's all talk.
House crumbs:
- Adam pleasured himself in bed while Sheila was in it with her back to him.
- Adam once again used the word "retard." Wait until he finds out that six-letter word has cost him his job.
- Today's wake-up songs were "Strangers in the Night" and "Eye of the Tiger."
- Joshuah had his Dustin crown on and said he was going to rip Allison's heart out, take a bite, then throw it away.

Retard is a six-letter word, not five.

These people are all beyond stupid. I'm glad Adam got canned, he shouldn't be using that term ESPECIALLY since he works with those kids. My sister is in Special Education and it will really make her mad when I tell her about it (You can tell she's smarter than me; she doesn't watch BB!)
Didn't Josh learn anything from Dustin last season, walking around wearing that crown really pissed some people off. I don't have the feeds so I don't know if Josh is doing it constantly, I guess if you're arrogant by nature, it's too hard to change it in the house.
For me, besides not having regular food (if I was on the losing team) the second worst part of the game would be the boredom. Nothing to do all day, except be outside swimming or whatever, that would get old really fast for me. I probably wouldn't make a good contestant because I wouldn't start fights or namecall or anything thse young people seem to do constantly. When you get older you realize how silly all that stuff is.

I, too, am glad that Adam won't be working for the school or agency that he was before coming to the show-but I do wonder if that was a real job. I work with autistic and multiply disabled kids and his overall demeanor screams INAPPROPRIATE!!!!!! I also heard, through the psychologist at my school, that the head of the Autism Council of the US asked CBS to remove the entire show after Adam made his initial comment and when they wouldn't, he asked that they remove Adam-they would not, nor would they agree to sanction him in any way or even ask him not to speak in a derogatory way about any disability, most especially autism. It seems that the next step he took was to seek out Adam's employer who apparently had been contacted by hundreds of people, including many of the parents of the kids in his care-sooooooooooo Adam, the job is history and that's a good thing for the children involved-but it says some really unsavory things about the motivations of CBS and the producers of BB that they have allowed him to continue unchecked. I can almost understand not removing him-although he is surely a disgusting specimen of humanity-but, I can't understand them being unwilling to publically sanction him so that the HG and the viewing audience could see that maybe they have just a bit of integrity-but I guess they really don't.

Why does BB have to do anything? It is called freedom of speech. I also work with developmental delayed children, and of course would never say that word. Say your opinion and go on, don't give them power over you. I am glad he lost his job that was the right thing to do for the company he worked for, but it is his burden to bear. Hopefully he will learn from his mistakes and grow. I doubt it, but there is always hope.

Give me a break - since when do once socially acceptable words become UNACCEPTABLE? Retard used to be the socially acceptable word - until kids on the playground started using it to poke fun - now we have to constantly change our DICTIONARY to become more 'politically correct'. I also work with disabled kids... it's NOT that offensive... it's only offensive b/c someone SAID it was? Give me a break. There are plenty of words that have a negative connotation to them - so let's throw out EVERY word that may appear negative??

Danitexas-I honestly don't believe you mean that post the way that it sounds. First, "retard" was never acceptable-the term "retarded" was used to refer to people whose intelligence was below normal but the term "retard" has always had a negative connotation. In much the same way that when I started teaching-40years ago-we used the term "mongoloid". That term is also no longer used and has been replaced by the name of the person who first discovered the chromosome abnormality that is "Down Syndrome". We grow and change for the better because we are human beings with empathy and compassion for one another-we realized these terms could cause hurt and pain and so we changed them-that's a GOOD thing!
