Women's Murder Club creators find new gig

women's murder club press tourJust last week, TV Squad reported that the creators and executive producers of the ABC drama Women's Murder Club, Sarah Fain and Elizabeth Craft, were replaced by Robert Nathan. Before you could say "Holy homicide, Batman," the two writers were quickly offered jobs from their old boss, Joss "Firefly" Whedon. Whedon has a development deal with Fox for a project called Dollhouse. He contacted Fain and Craft because he knew their work from Angel where they were co-story editors.

According to Fain, Whedon emailed as soon as the word got out that they were available. "Joss said 'I'm really sorry - and is it too soon to ask you to work on Dollhouse?" Getting an offer so quickly was a real relief to the ladies. Said Craft, "It cushioned the blow."

The show is set to begin production in six weeks with Fain and Craft, Whedon's first hires to the writing staff. Fox has ordered seven episodes of Dollhouse. Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Faith, Eliza Dushku, is headlining the sci-fi drama.

Dushku's character on Dollhouse is called Echo. "She's a member of a group of men and women who are imprinted with different personalities for different assignments. In between tasks they are mind-wiped, living like children in Dollhouse, a futuristic dorm/lab. They have no memories of their previous lives, until Echo begins to try to find out who she was."
