Now that the Arrested Development movie is pretty much a done deal, fans are dreaming of what the big screen event should include. FilmSchoolRejects listed eight things the Arested Development movie must include, such as the stair car, Lucille 2, and the banana stand. Being the AD fan that I am (I've seen every episode at least 5 times if not more), I've decided to come up with my own list. A girl can dream, no?Here is a list of things, people, lines, music, that I think should appear in the movie (including some from the FilmSchoolRejects list):
- Alliance of Magicians: We need to see Gob fight once again to be fully accepted by the organization he started and appear on the cover of Poof magazine. I also expect the Gothic Castle to be featured and see Tony Wonder (Ben Stiller) at least pop up in a cameo.
- Boyfights: If they don't show us footage of another Boyfights tape, they should at least show a poster or some tapes near a TV set.
- Charlie Brown: I would be happy either with the music or the sad walk.
- Chicken dance: Isn't it about time we see Michael's version of the dance?
- Cutoffs and never nude: The issue of never nudes definitely must be addressed as it was a recurring issue on the series. It wouldn't hurt if Zach Braff shows up in the cutoffs too!
- Dr. Fünke's 100% Natural Good-Time Family-Band Solution: This means also at least one mention of Teamocil and one awkward, yet hilarious, performance by the band.
Girls with Low Self-Esteem and Hot Cops: Do I need to explain why these must be included? How about a GwLSE video featuring the Hot Cops?!- Gobias Industries: It's time for Gob and Tobias to grow up a little and going back into business (or at least trying to and failing) may be in order.
- Les cousins dangereux: If the Maeby/George-Michael romance is not part of the movie, it will be a tragedy! This was one of the main storylines throughout the series; therefore, a must for the movie.
- Oscar being Buster's father: Until we see the result of a DNA test, I think this storyline cannot be put to rest.
- Lucille 2 and Surely Fünke: Both characters brought good laughs and awkward moments. Surely could show up in a movie produced by Maeby.
- Steve Holt!!!
Other items / places that must be seen:- Aztec Tomb
- Cornballer
- Stair car
- Franklin (If you ask Gob, Franklin is not an "item" or a "thing".)
- Model Home
- Orange County Prison
- Queen Mary
- Rape horn
- "The Man Inside Me" book
I also expect the following songs to be featured in the episode:
- Afternoon Delight
- Big Yellow Joint
- Final Countdown

My favorite scene from that show is when Gob and Buster are talking and buster asks, "you mean you can wear stripper clothes like real clothes?" Gob responds by confidently ripping his pants off in one pull.

As some of the comments in the FilmSchooRejects list mention, weighing down the movie with all of that stuff would be a bad idea. The writers should approach the movie as one more (long) episode of the TV show. Sure, there will be SOME continuing jokes, as there always are. But let's give them the room to create NEW ones. Otherwise, they might as well just get an editor to go through the 3 seasons and paste together a Frankenstein version that has every single running joke ever used in the series. Why gather together the actors and film new material if so much of it will be bogged down with references to old stuff? That's what the series DVDs are for.
I'm hoping for a good mix of new stuff and old stuff, not just a "best of". The Simpsons movie managed to do this.

Totally agree on that. We can have some callbacks but lets not scare away the general audiences who haven't seen the show.

Just because it was great tv show doesn't mean it'll make a great, or even good, movie. How much of what made the series great can they cram into a single feature-length film? How much will be too much before it looks like they're trying way too hard?

Favorite line ever said by a Mr. Tobias Funke:
"Universe you've done it again!"
BTW, Carl Weathers needs to be in this movie.

Lame. The movie shouldn't be made and no matter what, I won't support it/ I bought probably 15 copies of the DVD sets through the years, giving them out as presents. Ispent hours wooing people to AD. Let it die. Like Veronica Mars and Firefly, it's just not worth it.

Incorrect.
This is very smart comedy, and if they can do it the way they want it, it'll be amazing. If the studio or somebody won't, then I agree.
Also we need to see:
Analrapist
More Homefill products
Anything Motherboy (Motherboy XL?)
And there needs to be a plotline where the Caged Wisdom series is being made into a movie....get it?

DNA test?
You are aware that identical twins have 100% identical DNA? They are mother nature's kind of clones.
There is no medical way to determine if Oscar is Buster's father or his twin brother.

Gene Parmesan. The best character used only once. He NEEDS to return for the film.

I would like to see a mention of Bob Loblaw. My favorite line of the whole series:
"No, we're not going to talk jibberish to Bob Loblaw." (or something like that).

Just copied all the eps from all 3 seasons to my laptop. It's been over a year since I watched them all :)
Shame HBO or Comedy Central didn't take up AD. They wouldn't abandon a great show so easily.

Ummm, how do rumors about a movie make it "pretty much a done deal?"
I'm a fan of the show, and I would love to see a movie come out of it, and I see nothing wrong with a wish list of must haves for a potential movie, but has then been some other new development since the article that you link to mentions?
Such as, oh, I don't know, a studio green lighting the project?
I know it's exciting how the creator & the cast are all ready and on board to make it happen, but that doesn't mean it is going to happen at this point.
There's still a lot of ground that has to be covered before the movie can be "pretty much a done deal."
But still, great list! As much as they managed to cram into a single episode of the show, just imagine how much they fit into a full length movie...

Taste the Happy Michael!
God, this is the only TV/Movie news I'm interested in from now on.
God bless the Universe for trying to compensate Fox's Huge Mistake (PS I don't fully blame Fox, altho their advertising department deserve the sack for how they failed this show).
Best show of the decade, by far.

Did anyone mention Ann, George Michael's long-time girlfriend (and Gob's lover)? They did ... I hadn't noticed.
