(S04E05) So what was it about this week's dream that was so jarring it woke Allison from her sleep? Usually the dream reaches some scary climax which forces her to wake up. Was she really that shocked by a boot to the butt? In any case, it was pretty funny.

Remember the early episodes of Medium when Ariel was a typical selfish teenager? Every time she's featured in a story I am impressed with the way her character has developed. It's great to see writers who take time to craft every character on the show.

What's funny to me about Larry Watt is that he's just as scumbaggy as any other lawyer on TV, but he takes it one step further by being a total jerk. It's not enough that he is putting Allison in a difficult situation but does he have to rub it in by pointing out how desperate she is for money? Personally, I find it refreshing to see characters on television who know they are evil and don't apologize for it.

In past episodes, we got to see what happens when Allison has to help convict someone she knows is innocent. She is always lucky enough to intuit the real killer before the show ends. I've always wondered what she would do if she couldn't find the real killer or more importantly, knew who the killer was but couldn't tell anyone. I don't know why this show isn't more popular, the writing and character development is one of the best on television.

So at the halfway point, we're told that the youngest daughter actually did the killing in some "Of Mice & Men" fashion and Bill Sadler and his oldest daughter covered it up. What a conundrum! Now Allison has proof that her client is innocent, but can only reveal that proof by sending a troubled teenage girl away for life. It would seem that Allison is in a no-win situation. Luckily, for her, it was actually the other daughter and Allison can now reveal the truth without fear that an innocent person might get hurt. I guess we'll have to keep on waiting for the day when she has to make a hard choice.

When Joe said it was only a matter of time before someone sought out Ariel for some psychic help, he took the words right out of my mouth. Personally, I'm torn on the subject. On one hand, psychics who give people "readings" are, by and large, scam artists and for Ariel to align herself with that group of people is dangerous, especially for a teenage girl. On the other hand, we know that she actually has the ability to intuit things and if people are offering her fifty bucks for a little advice, why not take it?

Allison's solution was a great one and her explanation to Ariel was the perfect example of what makes this show more than just some sci-fi series about a psychic.
