(S09E06) "Cups are a very essential part of life, ya know. We use 'em for drinkin' and what not." --Matt on Big Brother taking away all the drinking cups in the house after last week's HOH competition

Do you see how much vital information you can learn from CBS's Big Brother 9? Did you know about the power of the drinking cup before this? I didn't. The cup and his brethren, the glass, have taken on a whole new meaning for me. Matt, you have officially rocked my world. Matt also told us to never trust anyone with pink hair. Wonder who he's referring to?

Operation Condor / Nominations
"Now we can do shady things and get away with it." --James

James (that's the same guy who tried to solve the mystery of the house using the guinea pig's jungle gym) came up with Operation Condor for his HOH week. As James puts it, "The condor swoops in and takes the top shelf." While the name has military flair, I'm pretty sure it was just an excuse to make bird noises. James and Adam thoroughly enjoyed impersonating the bird of prey.

James's idea is this: Get rid of the top shelf of pictures on the memory wall. Since Jen and Parker left last Wednesday, that leaves Amanda and Alex as his targets. But who to put up as the pawn? James and Chelsia told Matt that they would not put them up this week. Matt seemed happy with that deal (James gave his word) and offered to reciprocate when he and Natalie got HOH. Ryan said he wanted a week off from being on the block while he, Adam, and James were talking outside by the pool table. James seemed to agree that that was fair. James and Chelsia never even talked about Adam and Sheila being the pawn or Joshua and Sharon.

So who was the pawn? Matt and Natalie, of course. James put up the one couple he promised he wouldn't. He did give Matt a heads up though. He told him not to worry about it. James then told the house during the nomination ceremony that Matt and Natalie were the strongest people in the house and expected to win the PoV. Chelsia announced that Amanda and Alex went up because Amanda talks about people behind their backs. Chelsia even added that if someone hates her she wants to know; tell her to her face.

What did you think about how open James and Chelsia were about their plans? The HOH usually doesn't play the nomination ceremony that openly, usually opting for a more diplomatic speech. Here's my problem with it. If you beat Amanda and Alex down so much, you really only give them more drive to win the PoV. They really have nothing to lose now because Chelsia told the whole house that she wants them gone. I just think a speech like that gives Amanda and Alex more fuel to win.

Showmance, anyone?

"I think me and Matty are kinda like that movie The Cutting Edge where we kind of like each other but we don't want to admit it." So says Natalie, the bikini barista, about her BB9 partner from Beantown, Matt.

Natalie told Amanda that when she sees Matt she gets the "butterflies." She also told us that she has naughty thoughts about her partner, thoughts that she has clearly missed. He apparently doesn't feel the same way considering he declined the offer to take a bubblebath with her and bitched about getting up to get her some soap. I don't blame him. She is totally annoying and a little weird looking. I would say I think Matt's being smart by not sleeping with her because he doesn't want to mess up his game. But I don't think that decision is purely maturity and strategy. I think he's just not attracted to her.

Oh, and James and Chelsia made out after he worked his "game" which included asking her to lay with him in bed using funny voices. They seem like the one true couple in the house though. What do you think? I guess Allison and Ryan could become an item, especially since Jen is out of the picture. Oh, and Jen's parting gift to Ryan was calling him a racist on national television.

The L-Word

Speaking of people who should have been pawns, what about Sheila and Adam or Allison and Ryan? Actually, I wish it could be Allison and Sheila, Big Brother 9's fake lesbians. How stupid are these hamsters sometimes? Sheila and Allsion saw the backlash with Jen and Ryan's outing their secret, why didn't they take heed? Allison was directly affected by Jen's blabbing about her real-life relationship and now it's Allison who wants to come clean.

Did they really think that Chelsia and Joshua would take that well (especially given Chelsia's obsession with people being honest with her)? I was surprised that one of those couples weren't put up as the pawn. I was also surprised that Sheila seemed to be the smart one trying to deter Allsion from giving up their big secret.

Food Competition

I'll make this quick. The first food competition was fishermen-themed. The "Sea-duction" (yellow--winners) took on the "Dev-ocean" (green--losers). Oh, how I love the pithy wordplay at work on Big Brother. The players had to throw fish in the nets (held by players of the opposite team). The goal was to make the nets so heavy the opposite team members holding the nets would drop them into the water. The first to drop was Ryan, followed by James, Amanda, Matt, and finally Adam.

On slop for the week: Sheila, Adam, Alex, Amanda

Final Thoughts / Questions:

• A great quote from Amanda: "As soon as James and Chelsia won, umm, I think I threw up in my mouth."
• What was with Amanda's screaming before the food competition?
• More from Matt because I'm mildly obsessed with him: "The kid I related to most in this house is now gone. One of the sexiest girls in the house to look at (even though she has a boyfriend) is now gone."
• I hate Joshua and I don't feel bad at all for saying it. After the way-below-the-belt comment about Amanda's father last week during "the biggest fight ever in the Big Brother house," I thought I would give him another chance because Amanda said they had made up. I figured that he had a terrible foot-in-mouth moment and would apologize profusely to her after he calmed down. However, we saw last night that it was Amanda who approached him, apologized to him, and tried to form an alliance with him. Now, she's totally stupid (An alliance with that douche? Come on!). But, she certainly didn't deserve that level of disrespect from him. I was appalled that he didn't beg her forgiveness--just for good kharma's sake.
