I'm not ashamed to admit it. I grew up with the Paula Abdul vs. Janet Jackson rivalry. Janet had a better singing voice, but Paula was the better dancer. Now, here it is six hundred years or so later and while Janet's never stopped recording, it's been awhile since we've seen Ms. Abdul sing and dance. If you missed her Super Bowl performance, now she and Randy Jackson have released the official music video for their new single "Dance Like There's No Tomorrow."For a woman of 45, Paula looks and moves great. Her vocals are about what they've always been, but nevertheless this has a great dance hook and should do very well in the club scene. Maybe this will be the beginning of a full-fledged comeback for her.
I've always liked Paula Abdul and I'm glad to see she hasn't given up her first career completely. I think there was some very nice choreography in here and it's definitely fun to see Randy rocking the bass in the back there. This is the debut single of Randy Jackson's Music Club, Vol. 1 which hits shelves on March 11, 2008. And while the rest of it is filled with the likes of Joss Stone and Jason Mraz, Idol fans will be excited to know that joining Paula on the album are both Katharine McPhee and Elliott Yamin, singing together on "Real Love."
Overall, this is a pretty typical dance video like you'd see anywhere. Nothing spectacular or special but it certainly serves it purpose. Apologies that it's so tiny. That said, the closing shot is completely gratuitous and unnecessary ... and I think it made me die a little inside.

WTF is with the last shot? Redonkulous. Video was half-way enjoyable, give or take the willies Randy Jackson is giving off, and then we have to see her "posse?" Ughgh...I agree, totally unnecessary.

Exactly. It explains why Paula was the better dancer... the student could not best the master! :) I remember the "feud" between them when Paula stopped working with her to do her own album.

I do not want to hear this song on the radio. However, I would have no problem hearing this song on the dance floor. And yeah, last shot whah?

Paula was so NOT Janet's choreographer. She contributed on 1 and only 1 video way back when...lest you forget Janet's lineage.

Paula Abdul was the primary choreographer for most of Janet's videos from her Control album '86/'87 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Janet_Jackson#1986-1991:_Control_and_Rhythm_Nation_1814_era). It was shortly after this that Paula began her own recording career in '87/'88. And it was because she stopped working with Janet and then proceeded to compete directly with her on the charts (Forever Your Girl and Rhythm Nation 1814 in '89) that a "feud" was perpetuated in the tabloid media of the time.

Paula is a little long-in-the-toooth to be out there gyrating...and Randy looked like a big goober; at least wear contacts, dawg! Let's get Congress to pass a law prohibiting a "comeback" for the pair...

I thought the dancing and wardrobe were fun and current. However, someone in the position of critiquing others' voices and singing abilities is seriously putting herself out there for judgment. Can she sing? What does her real voice sound like, WAY over synthesized and over processed. What did Simon think of it?
