Looks like the promised Idol changes are going to keep coming. Rather than wait until we have our Top 12, the "theme weeks" that Idol made famous are actually starting tonight with the full Top 24! This week's them is music from the '60s. Furthermore, producer Nigel Lythgoe has announced that rather than a cavalcade of celebrity mentors traipsing in each week, there will only be four throughout the season meaning we'll definitely be getting that increased focus on the contestants we were promised. And how about that recently announced expansion of the results show to a full hour? Well, they're going to fill some of that extra time with "Where are they now?" segments on previous contestants. It's worked for other reality shows and I have to say I applaud this move. After all, Idol alumni are part of the extended Idol family, and true fans like to know what they're up to and how things have been going for them. Of course, they should probably skip the Jessica Sierra catch-up just now.

I don't know that I like having theme week so early. I like hearing new and fresh songs that haven't been done over and over... We're going to be hearing the same old songs from seasons' past...I hope however that some of these more "experienced" contestants bring their A game and make things a little less boring by not using the same boring song, same boring rendition.....hopefully they'll shake things up a bit - Much like Blake did last year...

I like the idea of having less famous people help the American Idols. Last year they had way too many.
However I think having a theme week now is a terrible idea. We don't know who these people are and for the first week they should be able to sing whatever the hell they like.

I'm soooo tired of the theme weeks. When the auditions start the judges say someone is too old fashioned if they sing an oldie and then here we are singing 60's songs again. If they are going to do that then they need new song lists for them to choose from and no Elvis or major stars songs in the future that no one can ever duplicate. The voice coaches and musicians could serve a better purpose to these kids by being straight with them and saying this song doesn't suit you, or here's a better arrangement because the contestants aren't qualified to do that yet. By the way I hate the back up singing on most of them, to corny. They need to update that also.

Loven the themes...however, the judges would be more credible if they too knew the music being song, as well as who sung the song. Where the Boys Are ....Randy, was made a hit by Connie Francis and not Patsy Cline....Duh!!
