The strike resolution has come at an ideal time for Lost fans. Executive producer Carlton Cuse told the Hollywood Reporter that he and Damon Lindelof hope to produce up to five more episodes for the current season of Lost. This brings the Season Four episode total to thirteen, only three episodes short of the sixteen-episode season that was initially planned.
The five episode goal isn't set in stone just yet, but fans can count on getting a complete season. According to USA Today, Cuse said that, despite having to "accelerate" some of the storylines, Season Four will reach its intended conclusion. The remaining three episodes will be carried over into Season Five. This could be the best news I've heard all day!

Cuse and Lindeloff Rock. I know it costs a lot to get the machine rolling again to finish up the season. I am so happy that this is going to be happening! It's true, "Only fools are bound by time and space."

I'm confused. If they are accelerating the storyline to finish the season and bring it to it's "intended conclusion," doesn't that mean they're getting rid of three episodes (finishing at the same point in 3 fewer episodes means that right?). How can those episodes then end up in season 5?

My guess is that they will remove some side stories for the characters and add them to the three extra episodes in season 5. That way they have time to tell the main story this year and will will just get extra filler episodes next year.
I was hoping they would do 5-6 episodes with an "end" and then have a TV movie in the fall for the last 3 episodes, then season 5 in January. :)
And I read something and the creators are more worried about where Lost is going to air. It's in Grey's timeslot, so which show will move.

I don't understand why they can't make 6-8 more episodes. There are rumors the season will be extended to the end of June, that's 3 months to make 6-8 episodes.

im sure part of this is due to the actors having other obligations. after matthew fox wins an oscar for vantage point hes going to be a real hot commodity. i mean, come on, WHO SHOT THE PRESIDENT?!?!
but seriously, the world didnt stop for the writers strike and someone important likely has other obligations. id love a full 16 episode season but maybe this will be good, fewer more action packed episodes are better than what we got the first half of season 3.

Would be nice to get a full season in. This show already drags on enough the way it is. Would hate to have to wait longer.

So season 5 will have 19 episodes instead of 16. That's cool. So it can start in Mid- January and go right through till May. Cool.
I'm glad we will get 5 more episodes this year. And it will have a conclusion of sorts. I would think the current run will be through March and then 2 weeks off and then mid-April or so we will start to get the last 5 episodes. Right? I'm glad the writers strike didn't last another month. I doubt we would of gotten any more episodes then.

In the future that exists right now, 13 episodes is a full season. Less filler will mean more focused story-lines. This is very exciting news!

I refuse to watch Lost on TV due to the commercials and no TV connection in my house so I must rely on DVD's I get from the library and my local video rental store that only has seasons 1-3 and I just began 3 tonight and viewed 4 episodes at once with no commericials of course and it is the only way to view this excellent series! If you watch it on TV consider switching to DVD. There is a great continuity that is lost on TV.
