(S07E11) Black Canary has entered the universe of Smallville, and she's totally goth. She's a pawn of Lex Luthor, and in her secret identity she is apparently that universe's version of Ann Coulter.I've read Black Canary in the comic books and in that medium she's never been a knife-thrower. She also apparently has super-leaping powers. Perhaps she gained them in the short-lived series Birds of Prey.

So the episode begins with things still being awkward between Clark and Lana. Maybe this is the beginning of the end of that relationship. It makes sense since Lois's superhero fetish is once again highlighted in the episode.
I like how Clark and Chloe make the same observations about Lana that I have in previous reviews and the audience probably has ages ago. I didn't like how Chloe tried to explain it away in a sentence, but that's just the soap opera nature of the show.
Why is it that Clark's parents are out of the picture in the show, but Lex's father is still around? Are the Kents that boring?
Speaking of the soap opera nature of the show, why is everyone so frickin' melodramatic? It's bad enough that Clark and Lana seem to have one of the most dysfunctional relationships on television, but apparently Oliver and Lois are going for the title now (well, they would be if the relationship were still going). Actually, I don't think there's a normal relationship in the whole show. And nobody ever seems to be happy. I think the Hollywood environment is leaking into the show. Nobody is happy, but everyone looks like an underwear model.
I loved Lois's reactions to learning Green Arrow's secret identity. Even more hilarious were her attempts to cover it up after Clark and Chloe saw the "Arrow Cave." It's a sign of things to come if she ever gets together with Clark.
Speaking of Ollie's secret stash: with the windows to the clock tower destroyed, didn't anybody else notice the arrows? Wasn't the whole secret identity thing blown at that point?
Man, the Daily Planet computers can do ANYTHING. I want one of those. They can give women different hairdos as well as stop bank transfers (which, by the way, are instantaneous in real life). Having worked with computers, I admit a little confusion about how listing two different I.P. addresses constitutes a bank transfer. But that's just me.
Please note that when your opponent has a superpower consisting of a sonic scream, super-hearing can be a detriment. Both Clark and Oliver were bleeding at some point during this episode, just to prove their manliness.
This episode was a good wrap-up to the whole Oliver Queen storyline from the previous season. On a side note, so much of the action in the series takes place outside of Smallville, I think the series should be renamed "Metropolis."
To end the episode, there were hints of difficulty between Clark and Lana (although it did look like they were staying together at the end), there were hints of romance (or at least something) between Clark and Lois, and there was a pretty blatant hook-up between Oliver and Dinah. And they lived happily ever after. Until next week...

Have you ever actually listened to Chloe and Lois talk? It's almost like a Dennis Miller rant. It's quite painful actually. If it wasn't for the tie-ins with comics and some of the action I wouldn't be watching. IN fact, I don't really pay that much attention when these two are talking.

Black Canary and Oliver Queen were the highlights of this episode. I like how Queen has embraced his new persona. I wish Clark would.
In fact, I think he's high time for Clark to don his cape and become Superman?

I never read the Black Canary comic books but I did get sucked into the short lived Birds of Prey tv series. I seem to recall that they described themselves as Metahumans (like Batman). Which is how they explained Batman's abilities. Maybe I am confusing it with something that I heard on Batman the animated series.

I am so glad I finally found a sounding board for the ONLY show I record every week!! Just wanted to add my quick 2 cents -- Brad, as for Clark's parents not showing up any more, remember that his mother is now in politics and has left Smallville...and his Dad was killed a few seaons back!! And as for Chloe, and the way she talks - and she's the only actress I've ever seen talk with her eyebrows - I think her lines are HILARIOUS! Yes, NO one talks like she does!! But she says those lines with her own flair, and I think for her, it works - even if you DO have to suspend reality a bit!! All in all, I love this show - I've been a fan of the whole Superman thing since the 50s TV show, and think Smallville is a fresh approach, although at times a bit too soap-opera-y!! I think Miles and Alfred deserve a lot of credit for a very entertaining and well-produced show. Stay tuned....

how is this even CLOSE to a "fresh" approach? the show remains Dawson's Creek set in the DC universe. it's the same thing as every other show on tv, a bunch of over-the-top melodrama with characters who are NEVER happy.
seriously, can we have just ONE tv show where at least half the cast enjoys their life? fat chance. guess we have better chance at a reality show where people aren't crying the whole f-ing time.
clark needs to fly. he needs to take superhero to the next level. lana needs to go. chloe needs to become oracle or something like it. most of all, the writers need to stop jerking superman fans like us around and make the show what we've hoped it would become instead of this BS drama clone.

Metroplois is right... isn't Lois supposed to be living above the Talon in Smallville and working at the Daily Planet in Metro? that's some commute! Isn't it supposed to be a 2 or 3 hour drive (in earlier seasons the luthors would helicopter it) - they these people run back and forth like it's around the corner, only clark could.
Last night was the first time I really felt the sparks btwn Lois & Clark. Poor girl, old lover's secret identity revealed and her old hook-up killed in the same week! But I like her with Clark - perhaps b/c Lana is getting SO AWFUL!

It's supposed to be SUPERsonic, not SUBsonic.
So theoretically, the special effects shouldn't have been this low bass tone, but i high pitched sort of "above car alarm" level thing.

ok did i miss something, maybe i wasnt paying close enough attention cause i was zoning in and out, but did lois even mention anything about grant being murdered. the only time she even mentioned him i thought was when she told clark she just used him to get over green arrow in the first place. That would be pretty messed up if she didn't even take the time to acknowledge he was dead. I dont think everyone is gloomy on the show now. Chloe seems to be a bit more upbeat than the rest of the cast, but she is the only one. All in all I liked the episode, especially since it had to do with other heroes, I usually always like these kind of episodes.
