"Indecision 2008": Mitt Romney surprised his supporters when he announced that he was withdrawing from the race. Romney then proceeded to surprise the rest of the country when he explained his reasons. Apparently, he doesn't want to detract from the Republican force, because a Democratic victory would essentially mean that the terrorists win. Real smooth, Romney. Real smooth. Jon's two-worded outburst perfectly summed up what I thought. Romney shouldn't be allowed to talk like that just because his hair is slightly more fabulous than his competition.Senior Analyst Jason Jones described the ways of douchebaggery and how the very specific douchebag demographic can influence the election. Mitt Romney was a pretty big douchebag, but at least he was a douchebag that was well-aware of how out-of-touch he was with his douchebag brethren. Honestly, I just wanted to see how many times I could say "douchebag".
"Mass. Hysteria": This was a classic segment from Daily Show alumn Ed Helms. Unfortunately, this didn't have a catchy name like Stephen Colbert's "Klassic Kolbert", but it was still wonderful to revisit this piece about Massachusetts' gay marriage laws. It should also be noted that the Homometer will never, ever get old, because any time there is a robotic voice with a slight lisp being sassy, I'm cool with it.
The night's guest was Laton McCartney, author of The Teapot Dome Scandal: How Big Oil Bought the Harding White House and Tried to Steal the Country. The discussion covered the oh-so exciting topic of old-time political corruption.
Moment of Zen: Nothing says "Mr. President" like Mitt Romney with a surfboard. Cowabunga, dude.
Monday: I'm going to see The Colbert Report on Monday! It's super-exciting.

I like your blog posts but that's ridiculous and not at all what he said. You can do better than that.

What Annie wrote is the substance of what Romney said and a quote of what Jon Stewart said.
Actually, when Jon played the clip and then said, "So, if Mitt Romney runs for president, the terrorists win??" I let out a shriek, because I had written that exact line in an email yesterday morning in response to that exact excerpt from Romney's speech.

Romney said: "If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and make it more likely that Senator Clinton or Obama would win. And in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign, be a part of aiding a surrender to terror."

Actually, that is what he said. Did you watch his speech? There's no possible way you could take what he said and have it mean anything other than that.
Clearly Mitt and the Republicans are going the Bush 04 route, attempting to win the election through fearmongering. I agree with Senator Obama that this isn't going to win like it did in 04. About 70% of the country has finally realized just exactly what's been happening during the Bush Administration.

I've seen Mitt Romney in real life. His hair is not all that fabulous. It looks like shoe polish, to be honest.

The other part of his speech Jon highlighted was just as remarkable as hearkening back to 2004's voting for democrats is voting for terrorists; when Romney spoke out of both sides of his a$$ saying islamic radicals become terrorists to rid the world of blasphemy and what this country needs is to listen to the religious right as to how god wants us to live.
