Entertainment Weekly announced earlier this week that Zooey Deschanel and Glenn Close would lend their voices to upcoming episodes of FOX's hit animated series The Simpsons. Deschanel will appear in an episode that will air in April, while Close will reprise her role of Mona, Homer's mother, in an episode that is set to air in May. Spoilers warning!
Bart will get help from a farm girl (voiced by Deschanel) save a calf from an imminent death. EW reveals that Bart will develop a crush on the character and "that a marriage proposal may factor into this animal-saving situation."
As for Glenn Close, her character is set to drop by the Simpsons' home and tell them "her activist days are over and that this time she's staying for good." The story doesn't say if Mother Simpson will indeed stick around. However, it's unlikely that Mona will become a recurring character considering Glenn Close's schedule.

I'd be excited about Homer's mom coming back, but after the last episode, I'm worried about what revisionist horrors they have in store for us. Maybe she left the family in 1990 after being inspired by Deion Sanders' Jheri curl.
