(S05E11) "Mommy's not coming back because Daddy killed her." - Christian
Um... wow. I'm never going to a Build-A-Bear Workshop ever again. I'll come back to that later, but let's touch on the theme of this episode first: cannibalism. There's a topic that Nip/Tuck hasn't tackled before and Ryan Murphy and Co. didn't hold back either. From the teacher who bites her Kindergarten students, to the metaphors of Hollywood agents eating you alive, to the newlywed couple that actually... ate each other, all the bases were covered. Who's hungry?
First off, let's talk about Kyle Ainge and his wife. Disgusting story, but it was still touching. It was sad really. Trapped in a ravine for ten days after a wrong turn on their skiing honeymoon, Kyle fed his hypoglycemic wife chunks of his own flesh to keep her alive. It actually sounds like something you'd read about on the news and I'm sure there have been similar incidents reported.
But then it got twisted and during his surgery recovery, the wife fed the husband some her own flesh to make them even? Equals? Really sickening if you think about. I think she was a little loopy. It never occurred to her that her flesh was raw and he had cooked his using the lighter from an overturned car in the ravine. This was only five minutes into the show. My jaw was on the floor. Plus, I don't know if anyone noticed, but the two surgeries were extremely graphic during this episode and every commercial break ended with the "viewer discretion advised" announcement. That says it all right there.
Moving on to Colleen... damn. As most people correctly speculated, she's a nut. She's not really an agent, doesn't live in a mansion, and has an obsession with hand made teddy bears. I think the thing that surprises me most is how trusting and naïve Sean is. I know the whole point is that he's the bright-eyed and bushy-tailed Hollywood newbie and as such he shouldn't know any better, but c'mon - he is definitely smarter than this.
How come he's never asked to see her office? Isn't it somewhat odd that Colleen had never heard of CAA? ("What's Caw?") She's clearly just an obsessive and delusional fan. As if there wasn't proof enough, she killed Sean's agent-to-be Bob from CAA with one of those machines that fills teddy bears with plush animal stuffing. That was disturbing to say the least. And how come whenever we see her, the theme music from The Exorcist plays? I know I asked this last week, but is there a connection or a nod that I'm missing?

No Julia? With the way her story has progressed, I found that odd. She's slowly dying, right?

How funny was Gina's funeral? One big sexaholics meeting where everyone recalled what great blow-jobs, hand-jobs, and rim-jobs she gave. It was sad to meet the guy that gave her AIDS though. My one question? She met all these people in Miami, right? They all traveled to LA for the funeral service? Seemed a little weird to me.

The teacher who bites her students had one of the funniest lines in the history of this show when Christian asked if he could maybe donate something like a jungle-gym to the school to avoid any lawsuits: "I was hoping you could provide something else to climb on." Hilarious. (I can't believe she had her teeth ground down and capped!)
Well, we've got three pre-WGA strike episodes to go before the Nip/Tuck well runs dry. If there's any kind of cliffhanger whatsoever at the end of S05E14, I'm sure FX will bill it as the season finale. In the meantime, I can't wait for next week. Looks like Kimber takes Eden under her wing. And they punch each other. In lingerie. I heart Nip/Tuck.

Best thing about this episode? No Julia!

It was great not having to see Julia last night. By the way, what happened to the daughter, Annie? Did they send her away?

First of all, I am SO glad to know I'm not the only one who is ready to have Julia 'killed off'. She has gotten on my nerves since the first episode; I feel as if I'm having to pull the words out of her whiny mouth because she takes forever to make one sentence.
Secondly, what is 'WGA'? And, is the season finale coming up soon (already)? Sorry, I don't understand 'S05E14'. Could you please 'splain? Thanks! Great article!

I'm really not trying to sound rude here, but I really don't know how else to say it: have you been living under a rock? The WGA is the Writer's Guild of America and they have been on strike since Nov. '07. As a result, most television shows will have truncated seasons since no new material is being written. Nip/Tuck is one of those shows and only has 14 season 5 episodes completed. It was supposed to have 22. Hence, S05E14 refers to the fourteenth (and likely finale) episode of this season.

You know, if you really don't want to be rude, then don't be rude. I had the episode on my mind and didn't notice the word "strike". My daughter died two weeks ago, so forgive me for what seems to be complete ignorance if I didn't pick up on the strike, of which I'm all too aware. You have taught me more than what you posted, however, and that is to never come here again...I didn't need that kind of blunt arrogance and I don't believe anyone else would either.

Don't try and guilt trip him, what he said to you wasn't even rude. But if you do decide to leave, you can bet you won't be missed by me. (Sorry for your loss though)
Anyways, onto the episode.
I too thought the Build-A-Bear thing was disturbing. Especially after she did that thing with his eyes that made them bleed and such. It just looked so.... well.... disturbing, lol.
Colleen is soooo creepy. But i don't blame Sean too much for being naive when it comes to her. Sure we know how much of a kook she is, but he still thinks she is a real agent, still thinks she lives in a mansion, and what not. He knows that she has boundry issues but i think the thing with CAA just made him trust her more because she said that they were just going to use him or what not and then the agent disappeared. But you know that Sean will learn about it sooner or later, personally i think he will find out when the agent's body is found and its stuffed with Bear-Stuffing....
I too was glad this episode was sans-Julia. I just get annoyed by her 'Oh i'm dying' storyline when you KNOW that she can't die. ::sigh:: Oh well.
I'm glad to hear that Kimber is back (i can't see the 'next on' clips when i watch it so i didn't know this) But i am soooo glad. I love Kimber (not so much this season though).

Wow. That was seriously one of the most messed up hours of TV I've ever seen. Nip/Tuck has taken twisted to a whole new level.
I was getting bored with this show in previous seasons, but it is back, big time!

ahahahaha, great episode!!!, and i didn't say these last week, but if gina had to die, that's the way to go for her!!!, coleen is soooooooooooo creppy, i really don't know, but she disturbs me in many levels (maybe because of her feets, LOL), if she wasn't a looney she woud have been a great supporting character in LA.
These season has been great, hope Julia dies soon, can't stand her!!!

Am I the only one who HATED this episode ? I "get" that Colleen is psycho but I thought the way she killed the agent was disgusting & stupid. I didn't like Gina's funeral or the cannibalism story. Christian & Sean weren't in this episode enough for me. I DID like the last scene where Christian gives Wilbur the puppy from the pound. So cute ! BTW, I don't think Colleen is just a fan. I always thought she used to be an agent who maybe lost all her clients b/c she is so crazy. Anyway, this was my least favorite episode ever.
