On February 10, the Grammy Awards will be shown on CBS with the benefit of writers. The WGA has agreed to let striking writers work on the awards show. This year is the 50th telecast of the Grammys and it makes sense that the WGA would permit their members to work on this show. After all, the musicians' union is another union and creating music is still just another form of writing.
This is a far cry from the Golden Globes, whose ratings slumped most likely due to a change in format necessitated by the writers' strike. There is still controversy as to whether or not the Oscars will be broadcast with writers. I'm betting on "no".
In a statement, the WGA mentioned that "musicians face many of the same issues that we do". While this is true, there hasn't been as big a stink over illegal Internet downloads in the television or movie industries as there has been in the music industry. Perhaps that should be a bigger concern to the AMPTP than striking writers?

The MPAA has been leading the charge -- even more so than the RIAA over the last couple years -- against internet downloading sites/software and individuals who download and upload.
