Live Blogging The Screen Actors Guild Awards

SAG logo10:04: OK, that's it for me. I haven't even eaten yet. Don't forget to head on over to Moviefone for complete coverage of the awards (and if you missed the show, TNT is going to repeat it at 11).

See you next Friday night at Zac Efron's house.

10:01: Did Josh Brolin just make a snide reference to Julie Christie's "tiniest actor" comment when she accepted her award a few minutes ago, or was it just a joke I didn't get?

9:59: Looks like there's just movie-centric awards left. I forgot there isn't a Best TV Drama or Best TV Comedy category at the SAG Awards.

9:50: Matthew McConaghey and Kate Hudson: king and queen of the crappy romantic film.

9:46: This Farmer's Help Point ad is freaky, but I had a dream the other night that was even stranger. I won't go into details, but it involved a mutant cannibal family and a used record store. That's the last time I eat 8 Reese's Peanut Butter Cups right before bed.

9:36: Blair Underwood talking about the new technology that has come to film and television. The hidden message here is...pay the damn writers for stuff on the internet and cell phones!

9:29: These tributes to the people who died in the past year always make me nervous, because I'm afraid they'll forget someone. But this was well done, including TV character actors with the big name stars, and was even up to date as late as last week.

9:24: Female Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries is...a tie! Queen Latifah wins. Um, wait, I thought it was a tie? I'm confused.

9:20: Um...Mickey Rooney is aware that this isn't his tribute show, right?

9:18: Male Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries...Kevin Kline, As You Like It.

9:17: James Spader is slowly morphing into William Shatner.

9:15: Don't forget to check out Moviefone's SAG Awards coverage.

9:09: If I can get all serious here for a moment: Charles Durning will be 85 next month. Isn't it great that an actor's career isn't just something that you can talk about in the abstract, but is available on film and television forever so we can keep watching it again and again?

9:05: Ah, there's Burt.

8:58: Denis Leary is introducing Charles Durning? What happened to Burt Reynolds?

8:56: Is it my imagination, or did WGA President Patric Verrone get a lukewarm response from the audience? Maybe the SAG Awards is just more polite and dignified with their applause.

8:48: Oh my God, if that chandelier falls, the entire cast of a TV show will be crushed to death.

8:45: Ensemble in a Comedy Series...The Office. Hmmm...no offense, Office, but 30 Rock deserves it more.

841: Male Actor in a Comedy Series...Alec Baldwin! Great choice. They even play the therapy scene from 30 Rock.

8:39: Female Actor in a Comedy Series...Tina Fey! Finally, an award I can get behind. She also thanks SAG for supporting the writers, which is a classy thing to do.

8:37: Maybe one of the side effects of Detrol LA is hallucinating that you see rest room logos come to life and help you in the bathroom.

8:31: Check out Moviefone's photo gallery from the red carpet.

8:29: If Casey Affleck wins, he should really take the gum out of his mouth before he goes up on stage.

8:21: The award for Ensemble in a Drama Series goes to...The Sopranos. (This is getting a little ridiculous.)

8:19: Boris Karloff was one of the founding members of SAG? That's a cool little fact.

8:11: Female Actor in a Drama Series...Edie Falco for The Sopranos.

8:10: Zac Efron and Debra Messing...she's going over his house next Friday night.

8:06: Our first award! Male Actor in a Drama Series is...James Gandolfini for The Sopranos!

8:02: A small SAG statue is OK, but a giant life-sized statue is just a big naked guy.

8:00: Now's the time to switch over to TNT or TBS for coverage of the show.

7:55: Wow, Max Headroom is going over the best dresses of the night.

7:50: Seacrest is out...of commission. Just found out he's really sick today, that's why he's not on the E! red carpet tonight.

7:46: I should tell you that as I blog this, I'm wearing a sweatshirt by Russell Athletic and jeans by Levis.

7:44: Now they're asking Forrest Whitaker and his wife what they do on Friday night. Maybe they go to Zac Efron's house?

7:42: Yeah, bring up Heath Ledger's death, live on the red carpet. Ryan Gosling and his sis handle it well though.

7:40: This is probably a good time to say that I'll be announcing only the TV winners, not the movie winners, though if anything interesting happens in the movie division, I'll be sure to mention it.

7:36: Vanessa Williams wants to be home watching the show with hot chocolate under a blanket? Yeah, looks like it's really freezing in L.A.

7:31: What does Zac Efron do on a Friday night? Any girl that he wants.

7:30pm: Well, here we go, live blogging the 14th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards (wait, it's only the 14th ceremony?). Let The Golden Globes suffer with just a press conference, this is a WGA-approved, full force celebrity extravaganza!

I just hope I don't get so sick of this E! red carpet coverage that I just want to walk away from my computer (the most inane questions I've ever heard, but I guess it's hard to come up with stuff when you're talking to celebs live for three hours) Keep refreshing the page for the latest (which will be on top, in official live blog format).
