This week in the ratings was a good one for Fox. Between football, reality TV and the lack of other scripted shows to watch, this WGA strike may be the best thing to happen to Fox in a while. The network had its best non-Super Bowl ratings ever, with an average of 24.2 million prime-time viewers. This was more than double any other network on television.
Interestingly enough, while American Idol ratings kicked butt on all the other networks, the debut episodes was down 11 percent from the ratings of the 2007 debut episode. Does this mean the show is getting less popular? As someone who is sick of the hype of this show, I certainly hope so.
I just wonder if this is a hiccup in the ratings due to a confluence of circumstances (end of the football season and the writers' strike) or if this is a sign of things to come. I guess we'll find out when the strike ends and football season is over.

they should rerun arrested development while they're out of shows, best thing they ever done but no-one's heard of it.

They should have more episodes of IDOL or increase the length, and bring on more game shows.

I am guilty of giving Fox ratings. I am required to watch football and the only scripted show that seems to be airing new episodes is Terminator. No doubt Fox will continue to enjoy its lead with Idolatry, but a lot of huge shows such as Lost are not yet back on the air. I suspect ABC will give FOX a good run for their money when Lost comes back.

I'm not so sure on Lost.
I mean, those who've been watching will watch, but it doesn't seem like the kind of show that's going to attract new viewers.
I know I would rather watch some rerun, that try out a show where I will not understand half the story.

Tune in next month for Who Wants to Date a Millionare: Midget Edition! Only on FOX. 12 beautiful supermodel goldiggers compete for the "love" of a midget worth $100million dollars. Followed by a special 6 hour American Idol!
This is my prediction for FOX's next POS reality show that will be a ratings bonanza.

Not only did FOX win the week, they won it by enough to take the lead for the season - with 36 hours of IDOL and the Super Bowl still in their pocket.
FOX didn't take the lead until mid-March last year.
Spring has come early.....
