(S03E10) "If he doesn't take you, I will." - Lincoln
Well isn't that special. Lincoln's got a crush on Sofia. Not like we didn't see that coming. All that's missing now is the clichéd scene where something stressful happens, they lock eyes, and start sucking face amidst all the chaos of planning an inmate bust. You know it's coming. Here's the real question though: what are the chances of finding a gift shop that sells Eiffel Tower keyrings in Panama City?!?
Looks like Lincoln's budding desire might actually have a chance though. Sofia is clearly fed up with the lies that Whistler has been spinning. But she did find his big 'ol titanium briefcase. He hid it well, so there has to be something good inside.
That's not all we found out about him though. He's still trying to sell his story to Michael and said something about the Company killing his family. Then he went even further with the fisherman story and said that Gretchen and her employers had commissioned him to be their personal charter. I think it's all crap. If you ask me, the real key is going to be that Blackberry Gretchen has. She was e-mailing on it... as Gary Miller. The same name Whistler went by in that passport Sofia found. So to someone (whoever Edward Guthrie is), Whistler is indeed Gary Miller. What is he though? Based on the e-mail that Gretchen was drafting, he works in sales and they need this Guthrie fellow to come to Panama and "play some golf." So what's his significance?
If Lincoln's plan goes off without a hitch, we might never find out though. When is he planning on setting off that bomb that Sucre planted in Gretchen's car? The big issue? Will Sucre let him go through with it now that Gretchen knows who and where Mari-Cruz is? Sucre has never been shy in letting people know that Mari-Cruz is priority number one for him. He'll definitely back up on any plans he has with Lincoln to ensure her safety.
Inside Sona, things were moving relatively slow. Sammy finally went through with the coup and knocked Lechero off his throne. It didn't last too long though. Once he figured out Scofield's plans and tried to crawl out the half-finished tunnel? Well... just look at the name of the episode.
The whole ordeal was a little tedious though. You knew Sammy was going to die. Once Michael started making a big deal out of that little pin he shoved into the wall, you knew he was going to pull it back out. I was hoping Sammy would have finished off Bellick though. One less person to worry about. Although, McGrady seems poised to slide in the second Scofield has any kind of opening on his crew. I think he'll honestly let the kid tag along once the plan is fully laid out though.
At this point, I'm sure the story is going somewhere, but I need some more explanation that we've been getting. That briefcase is a good start because I can only assume it's important... but it might not be. It might end up being another vague clue with no apparent meaning. Sort of like that bird book. It'll end up having some value at the last possible second when everything is already on the table. By then, it won't really matter. Although, with only three finished episodes left this season, we might not get that far anyway.

They had better keep things moving along. With all of this dragging out and new twists, its turning into another Lost.

I can't believe they ended ANOTHER episode with a "What's in the box?" cliffhanger.

Another great episode!
Michael is a chess-level genius when it comes to strategy. He sees the moves several steps ahead and manages to pull off a plan without even looking like he's planning anything. I'm still convinced he knew exactly how everything would play out with the General last week. And we definitely know how he brought down Sammy's crew this week.
The dynamic between Alex and Michael this week was great. The way the both told Whistler to stow his BS was priceless. My only thing with Alex is that he got over his addictions way too quickly.
I also wished that Sammy had just finished off Bellick. At this point, Bellick is just around to see how much he can be put through in prison. Maybe he will be used as a human shield when the escape finally occurs.
If Sucre is smart, he'll go to Linc and admit that Gretchen now has leverage over him in Maricruz.

Since when does giving someone a cashier's check give you the ability to track what they do with the money after cashing it? Stupid, lazy writing.
And why was Sofia going through the closet like that in the first place? Clearly, the only reason was to find the briefcase, they might as well have had it appear in her hands out of thin air. Again, lazy writing. I guess maybe the writers were mailing it in already by that point.

John Howard, I think maybe you're being too hard on the writers just this once. I took the dialogue to mean Sucre had signed over the check itself to Maricruz; if that were the case the issuing bank would get a copy back of the cleared check. For the sake or agument, you could argue Gretchen had access to this information although it all seemed to happen way, way too quickly -- a matter of days when in "real life" it probably would have taken a week or more.

Loved the episode. Not only did Sammy and his goons get theirs, but Mahone, T-Bag and Bellick are now all in on the escape plan. Things went pretty much perfectly. Hopefully Mike doesn't end up screwing them. And anyone who wants Bellick to die deserves a guillotine choke from Mahone.

I like Bellik too...though i could see once outside he would try and turn michael in for reward.
I figure gretchen bought off bank teller that made transaction or the company has someone working in baking high up.
I told my wife i think a gun (like sniper rifle) is in case ans whister is a hitman.

Prison Break is a great show - you end up rooting for the guys (T-Bag, Bellick, Alex) that were bad. I would like for everyone of the original group to get out together. I don't know where else they can go with the show but I have faith in the writers and producers.

@Mike:
I was thinking the exact same thing.
That's a kind of thing you'd put in a metal briefcase, right? I mean, first guess would be money.. but money could be for anything, it's not specific enough. Hitman tools would be one option. Maybe just a bunch of files? Nah, not symbolic enough.
I thought maybe Whistler might have some connection (maybe familial) to the General, but that wouldn't have anything to do with the briefcase, unless Whistler has a family album stored in that metal case. :P
Great episode, in my opinion. They just need to start raising tempo.
Oh, by the way, season 3 isn't going to _end_ at episode 13, is it? Just a break, right..?

Noam -
Yes, it will end. It won't be the finale, but it will serve as the end of season three for now. Only 13 episodes were finished pre-WGA Strike. Realistically, new episodes won't return until next fall.

Assuming the bomb goes off when Gretchen is in the car, she will get blown up and Sucre will not have to worry about Mari-Cruz being harmed.
