We told you the other day about the studios ending the contracts of several writers and producers. And since it's hard to keep track of who is and and who is out when it comes to their TV deals, The Futon Critic has the scoop on which people still have deals at the networks, along with updates on which contracts have been canceled.
The names that immediately stick out to me for terminated producers are Hugh Jackman and John Palermo (CBS' Viva Laughlin), along with Journeyman producer Kevin Falls. It's interesting to see who has multi-year, seven figure contracts (such as Back To You producer Abraham Higginbotham) and who has three year, eight figure deals (that would be Anthony Zuiker, the guy behind the CSI shows over on CBS). Chuck Lorre's (Two and a Half Men) details haven't been released, but it's great to see that Dan Staley and Rob Long has a new project coming up (hopefully, at some point).
It's a big list, and kinda inside TV-ish, but it's interesting.

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!
Someone associated with 30 Rock was term'd - Dave Finkel & Brett Baer. Does this mean 30 Rock is not returning?

Interesting list, but why does it go by first names and not last names?

As far as I know, these tv deals affect the production of new tv-shows created by the writer. It doesn´t affect any ongoing shows that are already up and running.

if the name on top of the terminated list is hugh jackman i am sure no one that important can be listed below him. Talented actor, but, lets face it via laughlin might be the worst thing ever put on television.
Whoever had the idea of casting lloyd owen (you may have seen him singing "i'm still standing" on the soup) should never get another chance.

Just to clarify, if they are listed does that mean that they no longer have a show? Or am I misunderstanding? Please Please Please tell me that "How I Met Your Mother" is *NOT* cancelled.
*20th Carter Bays & Craig Thomas executive producer HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER CBS three-year, mid seven-figure 2/2/07*

Huh, no mention of Whedon's project. That was the one I was most worried about. I'm assuming it got axed anyways.

If I understand this correctly, it's the development deals that are canceled, not the shows themselves.
It's routine to keep a writer (or group of writers) under a development deal where they basically are paid a certain amount to come up with and pitch ideas.
This is a separate contract than the contract to write for shows.
Now of course the question is if you've had you development deal pulled out from under you, are you going to be at all enthusiastic to go back to writing for the network/producer who canceled you development deal?
Feel free to correct me if I misstated anything.

That's the risk the "million dollar development deal" writers took when they decided to strike.

"ABC Studios Charles, Larry consulting producer CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM HBO two and half year, mid-seven-figure 3/6/07 1/11/08"
I remember reading about this when this deal was made, who in there right mind would end a contract with Larry Charles? seriously!! even if he isn't coming up with ideas he is a great director! especially if ABC just contracted him to go and direct or produce a few eps of a show that needed a boost.
Is there anyway we can find out the reasons (if any, apart from the obvious less money) they ended the contracts?
