According to BBC News, someone planted a bug on the judge's table for the show Britain's Got Talent. The show is executive-produced by American Idol's Simon Cowell (who also exec-produces the similarly-themed America's Got Talent broadcast on NBC) and is broadcast on ITV in England.

I'm sorry, but this is just low. Can you imagine the personal things that may have been heard while bugging the judges of this show? Whomever planted the bug might have learned the secrets of Simon's career success. Okay, I admit I'd like to learn more about that one.

Having lived in England for a little while in the 90's, I can tell you that British tabloid journalism is far more ubiquitous and sinister than its American counterpart. The suspicion is that a journalist planted the bug and I'd believe it.

I don't know who the judges are on the British version of the show, but I'd be interested in hearing the whispers behind the American version. Think the Hoff would lean into Sharon Osborne and say "How's about we meet for a drink after the show"? Yeah, me neither.
