High School Musical star Zac Efron underwent emergency surgery this past Tuesday to remove his appendix according to his publicist. Recently, Efron has signed on to star in the theatrical release of High School Musical 3: Senior Year and was one of the stars of the movie Hairspray.Maybe it's the cynic in me, but this smells of cover-up. Too many self-destructive celebrities have started under the Disney umbrella (such as Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears) and it wouldn't surprise me if this were more the case.
In my mind, Efron was out partying with a couple of underage girls, all liquored and drugged up while driving in his Lamborgini with a trunk full of smack. An L.A. cop, upon noticing the strange motions his car was making in the road, took up pursuit. Zac put the pedal to the metal and lost the pig but didn't notice the telephone pole around the corner that he suddenly wrapped his car around. The underage girls were quietly spirited away while he was checked into the hospital afterwards under the pretense of "removing his appendix".
Or, more likely, the story was just as the publicist said. We'll never know.

It's the cynic in you. If my publicist is going to come up with a cover up for publicity it better be better than my appendix. Plus, isn't he about 20?

What I want to know is how long until the appendix shows up on Ebay? You know it will! Some tween girl is counting up her piggy bank as we speak!

I say the cynic. The Disney-brand male celebrities seem to be far more stable than their female counterparts. Justin Timberlake and Ryan Gosling, for example.

In terms of appendix, I can believe that he was rushed off. I had a friend who was fine when he went to bed, but about 8 hrs later I got a call from his roommates that they were rushing him to the ER because he was green. Turns out that had we waited another hour to bring him in (other than the green he was only complaining about a pain in his side) the doc's said he probably would have died a fast and unpleasant death.
While I don't know about Zac's supposed condition, I DO know that if your appendix goes, you're in the ER immediately. Pretty scary that you only have a few hours for something so random...
