Boston Legal: Mad About You

William Shatner(S04E11) "Denny Crane. Denny Crane. Denny Crane. Denny Crane." - Taken from the legal briefs of Denny Crane

Is it 1989 or was that Bess Armstrong I saw in the opening scene? All jokes aside, William Shatner, once again, makes me jealous of his life by squeezing the butt that I have longed for ever since I saw The Four Seasons. I was very excited when Denny insisted on trying the case by himself. I have long wondered if he still has what it takes to keep his perfect record and this is where my question gets answered.

What I'm really curious about is the ethical question of Denny trying to bed his client. Now clearly it's inappropriate at best and malpractice at worst but I kind of think that in Denny's case, sleeping with his client can only help him get her off (sorry). The guy is so unorthodox (i.e. nuts) that it might just be the right move.

I feel that I have to point out how much more believable Alan's disguise was than the one Denny had on earlier in the season. I almost didn't recognize him, which, I guess, makes me less perceptive than Denny.

Perimenopause is a great defense. I had never heard of the condition until this episode and while it probably won't help the cause of equality between the sexes it sounds like a great defense for women everywhere. More importantly, it's a darn good reason for me not to piss off my ex-wife (like she needs more reasons to want to kill me).

Isn't it about time for Jerry to get over himself? The guy is clearly aware of his problems so it seems to me that he can either own them and make everyone else accept him the way that Katie has or try to get some help. I'm sure that are plenty of other remedies for his Asperger's than just smoking a fake cigarette and being a jerk. Now he's started walking in circles before he sits down? Maybe he needs to see a pet psychiatrist.

I love the idea of lawyers being sued. It's almost post-modern. I know that lawyers can't be held responsible for the bad decisions people make but the current state of the legal profession makes me think that they must be partly responsible.

Just when I think, William Shatner is simply the jester of Boston Legal, he goes and delivers a great piece of acting like he did in his closing remarks. Understated and poignant, Shatner seems to actually be able to tell the difference between being passionate and overacting. This is the scene to show your friends who still think he's just Captain Kirk.

While I still think that Crane, Poole & Schmidt win far too many cases, I was happy to see how these turned out, especially for Denny. Denny Crane.

Which "crazy" lawyer would you want handling your case?
