Aww, Jon Stewart has Restless Leg Syndrome. To be honest, even after hearing Jon's explanation of it, I'm still not quite sure what to make of all those Restless Leg Syndrome med ads. Increased gambling? That's surprisingly scary."Bush's Bucket List": In his final year in office, Bush has been making the rounds in multiple Middle Eastern countries, chilling out with his token black friend, Jack Nicoholson/Morgan Freeman style. Not only that, but he's been getting showered with flowers of all sorts and holding hands with leaders. Jon's jokes about Bush getting fooled into doing culturally "eccentric" acts were fantastic, but mainly because I've wondered a lot about that sort of thing. I often get to see Chinese-based news programs and I can't help but laugh at some of the things that world leaders have to go through to look like they know all about China.
Bush also paid a visit to the troops, proving his incredible mastery of the English language all along the way. "There is no doubt in my mind when history was written, the final page will say: Victory was achieved by the United States of America for the good of the world." I still don't understand why he doesn't stop himself when he says things like that and just say, "Excuse me...", correct himself, and move on. Can't admit to mistakes? Too macho to use "Excuse me"? Doesn't realize? I don' t know.
The night's guest was former UN Ambassador John Bolton, promoting Surrender Is Not an Option: Defending America at the United Nations. In my notes, I actually scribbled something about Yosemite Sam, so I was glad to hear a reference to that, even if Bolton stumbled a bit in trying to beat Jon to the joke. The interview was all right, split into two parts and covering topics like nuclear weapons restrictions. The audience members seemed to contain most of their obnoxiousness, even if they weren't 100% successful.
Jon/Stephen: None, but The Colbert Report had some interesting news. Moment of Zen: These Restless Leg Syndrome med ads make me want to eat Mirapex like candy.
