A Daily Show: January 14, 2008 - VIDEO

Jon and company"Indecision 2008": Contrary to popular belief, "Reagan-Off" is not a delicious cousin of "stroganoff". Too lame even for me? Sorry then. More than ever, the Repubican candidates are doing their best to emphasize their connections and similarities to Ronald Reagan. The joke about Giluiani's 911 points was wonderful, as was the elaborate "truck" crossword giddiness. Did I miss the reason why Barack Obama was on the cover of the GOP comedy album? Is it because I might be an Islamo-Fascist?

"We Love Showbiz": Holy crap! Way to bring back a super-old favorite, Daily Show. Back in the day, Steve Carell and Nancy Walls were correspondents on the show and played upon their married couple chemistry in their "We Love Showbiz" segment. For some reason I never even imagined Jason Jones and Samantha Bee, the show's current married correspondents, bringing it back. Anyway, the segment was very brief and didn't include much, mainly how crappy the Golden Globes and Larry King's stream of conscious commentary were. I really hope that they'll bring it back when the writers return. Maybe baby Piper Bee Jones will make an appearance again. For those of you that don't remember the original Carell/Walls segment, here's a quick video:

The night's guest was Daily Show buddy Fareed Zakaria. Most of the discussion was about Pakistan, but Zakaria and Stewart didn't shy away from joking around. Zakaria even made his own "You might be an Islamo-Fascist" joke. Good for him.

Jon/Stephen: Silly chit-chat over Colbert's lo mein. Moment of Zen: Billy Bush's Golden Globes coverage was mainly just "Whaa?" and then more "Whaa?"

TCR: Apparently I'm very easily influenced by what I see on television, because after a few minutes of watching Colbert going to town on that take-out, I was overcome with this need for greasy Chinese food. Please note that this fact is extra-sad because I already had take-out for lunch.

On a different note, I don't think I'm ever going to used to the awesomeness of having Futurama reruns immediately following the TDS/TCR block.
