I got a great letter this week...
"I remember watching a documentary, I believe it was about Rod Serling, & on it was mentioned a Western series the producer had developed, starring Lloyd Bridges & Brock Peters. Any idea what this show was called? Or, was it maybe Gene Roddenberry's show? Thanks for the help! Steve Atwell"
This is one of those questions that is a real pleasure to answer because I get to spend a few hours researching and watching clips of the show.
The show in question is called The Loner and was extremely cool. It starred Lloyd Bridges as an ex-Civil War soldier who rode through the West encountering people and situations that you rarely saw in TV westerns.
While Brock Peters wasn't a regular on the show, he did star in a particularly moving episode. This clip from Rod Serling: Submitted for your Approval, a brilliant documentary about Serling, features that episode.
Now for this week's question...
Who is the only actor that Rod Serling ever had a conversation with on The Twilight Zone?
Well done, Toby! Kennan Wynn is the correct answer.

That would be Keenan Wynn as Gregory West.

The title cuts to the series are available on the Film Score Magazine music cd film score release of the re-make of Stagecoach (both were composed by Jerry Goldsmith).

I've caught this documentary some time ago. I simply love it. I'm a huge fan of Rod Serling and "The Twilight Zone", I've never seen "The Loner". Is either "The Loner" and or "Submitting for Your Approval" available on DVD?

"Rod Serling: Submitted for your Approval," is available on DVD, I netflixed it a while back and indeed it is a brilliant documentary about a brilliant man.
I'm pretty sure "The Loner" is not out on DVD though.
