Have you been curious about the storylines for the first four seasons of HBO's The Wire but haven't had the time to watch the series? The following video may be able to help you catch up with the storylines of the show.Frankly, I found it rapid-fire and too confusing to be practical. I feel only marginally more knowledgeable about the series than before I watched the preview. However, it's fun to watch. If I was to improve on it, I would have the voice-over start with "Previously, on The Wire..."
Video after the jump...
I love how in the beginning of the video they have that Brady Bunch tiled effect of all the characters on either side of the law. It almost makes it seem like family entertainment, if it were the Manson family. For any fans of The Wire out there, do you feel the four-minute video summarizes the show accurately?

I don't watch 'The Wire', but I'm pretty sure that video is insanely out of sync.

The video is very out-of-sync...I saw this video a couple of days ago on youtube which is in-sync. I thought it did a good job but then again I have seen each season at least 2 times. It does have some funny moments ("McNulty takes a drink...McNulty doesn't take a drink")

I don't think this four-minute video summarizes the show accurately. I saw it last week on youtube and although it's nicely done. It's impossible to recap this show in 4 minutes. He did put all the major plot twists in the clip but the smaller and equally import ones are missing. So if you haven't seen the previous seasons this recap won't do the trick. But if you watched all 4, then it's a good way to get back on The Wire.

It's not really worth much if the point is to get new viewers caught up--for the various reasons mentioned already, but that's fine, because there's not much point in watching only season 5. (The best season was either 4 or 1, then 3, and then 2; three episodes in, 5 doesn't promise to match 1 or 4. Why watch The Wire at all if you're not going to watch the best stuff?)
What this video is good for is humor and nostalgia for those who are already fans. "Hey, remember when this happened? Wasn't that cool?" "Hey, know how this keeps happening? Isn't that funny?"
I am actually kind of outraged that they said Cheese was part of Avon's crew. How could anyone who's watched the show make that mistake?
