Hmmm...this news seems really strange to me.
Bill Carter over at the New York Times is reporting that Jay Leno and Jimmy Kimmel are going to be on each other's shows on Thursday night, January 10. It was Leno who invited Kimmel on the show and Kimmel accepted. I guess since both shows don't have writers they're looking for a way to fill up some time, and to get another late night host as a guest not only accomplishes that it's a great gimmick to get people to tune in too.
But here's why it's strange to me: I thought Kimmel hated Leno? I can remember some unkind remarks that Kimmel made about Leno over the years, and I remember Kimmel saying that Letterman was his hero growing up. Kimmel even appeared on Letterman's show when he got his ABC show. I guess it makes sense that Leno invited Kimmel and not the other way around, I just find it's interesting that Kimmel accepted (the article says they have become friends since the strike began). Though maybe he would have accepted an invitation from Letterman if they didn't work on different coasts.
OK, Letterman, Conan? Maybe you two can be on each other's shows?

There is that rumor that ABC wants to get Leno and give him a show in Nightline's place.

Oh lord I hope not. Millions for "Nightline" not one cent for Leno.
But did you notice Kimmel kissing up to Jay and Conan on their first night back? About how SAG shouldn't tell its members not to go on their shows because SAG members were still shooting movies (and forgetting to mention that the scripts for those movies were completed before the strike and SAG doesn't have a sympathy strike clause in their contract). Is it barely possible that Kimmel might want Conan's job when Conan get's the "Tonight Show"?

I think Letterman and Conan have respect for each other. Letterman's picture is still up in the Late Night set.
