CW changes its schedule

The CWAccording to the Hollywood Reporter, the CW is using the opportunity of the WGA Strike to experiment with its schedule. This includes a relocation of its entire Monday comedy block to Sunday. Gossip Girl and Reaper will also move, eventually settling on Monday and Thursday nights, respectively.

Leave it to corporate America to turn a negative into a positive like this. With the WGA Strike in full swing and many of the networks unable to broadcast new material, the most fledgling of all the networks is going to try and see if they can get their ratings up by moving more established shows to new nights. It may even work as networks run low on new material to broadcast to the audience. Of course, the CW will run out of scripted material eventually, the same as every other network. In my opinion, the difference between scripted shows and reality shows is that scripted shows have a much higher rerun value. People have a lesser tendency to watch reality show repeats.

I tend to doubt that changing the schedule will bring significant change to the CW's ratings, but I could be wrong. The strike certainly gives an opportunity for experimentation like this. The new schedule is listed in the article.
